Nice link, Scarlett...I wasn't sure I wanted to see the movie, but the interview was kinda cool, although i just cringe sometimes on the 'dis-cliches'. I just saw a news segment on this WC-basketball team, and it as loaded with the usual cliches, and then at the end the reporter says 'And if you'd like to give donations to help with expenses and WCs, you can at phone#.' I'm sorry, but they never do that for any other basketball team. Oh, and the chairguys buy right into the package. I'm taking donations... always. I was at BJ's Wholesale Club last night buying a ton of groceries. I was chatting casually with the cashier when he suddenly says "I'm gonna hook you up." He then went on to intentionally mis-enter the values for the prime rib and steaks I'd bought and gave me a wink. He saved me around $100. Now, I'm sure it was just because I was in a chair, but... I'll take it.

I'm not refusing any donations, either - The Windrider Fund is always accepting donations at any time - 1-800-WIND-MAN - Call now, and spare a wheeler the fate of eating ramen for the 1, 017th consecutive time!

Saw it yesterday in IMAX. What can I say? It is a beautiful spectacle, beautifully shot, beautifully written story. A good product of the genre. Delicious dish for eyes and ears. Even had a strong catarsis, though it was SO expected. It was, as though the audience's emotions to the piece were thoroughfully calculated in advance. The secret is to let it take over you, without being criticly oriented towards the manipulations that are done on you by the text. And it is not very difficult, since you can't really fight the colors, the movement, the visions, the soundtrack, you actually never want it to end. Now to the devo part of the story. Well, it didn't really give me the "pain", except for two scenes. In both the protagonist body was, so to speak, handled by women. But don't count on me, since all my dev feelings are now fixated on House, so it is hard to imagine anything to hit me stronger than the last. But, if I were in a different phase, than I would probably say, that there are many good hot scenes with transfers, legs, movements, struggling. I guess, I would say that it is a candy, one of the those rare movies that attends to the whole spectrum of dev feelings, all preferences and fantasies. It is even hard to believe, that it deals that elegantly with the issue of disability, almost without falling to stereotypes and without romanticising it. I was really sorry, that I couldn't enjoy it properly (damn House). But if to be a bit critical, after all, the thing is that this movie serves the same collective psychological function as "Coming home". To make it brief, it serves as a compensating function for the demasculanisation of the american man/soldier. It is the cinematic compensatory working-through the trauma of the lost causes of Vietnam/Iraq/Afganistan. But who the hell cares, as long as it has a hot para in 3D just in front of you!

Here's my dilema about viewing this kaiju cinematic orgasm (thanks Tri). I will be seeing it with a minimum of 4 kids in tow and at least 2 neighbors (other parents of said kids). Should I hide in a supersized popcorn bucket?

Should I hide in a supersized popcorn bucket? Well, if we're getting forecasts of 'loinsplosions' from other Devs...might be a tad risky...how good is your home theatre system? Might be worth it to wait, if it's a good one.

I was going to go with my best friend and her boyfriend yesterday, but there weren't any seats left. I've already decided I'm going by myself. Said best friend knows about me, but apparently hadn't realized why I wanted to see the movie. I think I can sit through it if nobody I know is watching me and I can't wait that long anyway.

i was going to try and make it to the (really) late show tonight, but alas... i don't think i can stay awake enough to get the most out of it. so now i have made a date with myself for the beginning of the new year. like others have mentioned, i definitely want to see it solo. i'm just so bummed that i'm going to have to wait a week and a half!!!

I saw it too, great movie... loved Pandora! But the amazing thing was: Sam Worthington actually looked like a real para - atrophied legs and everything. How the hell did they do that?!

Should I hide in a supersized popcorn bucket? Don't try the popcorn method. If you get flustered,it will go everywhere & you will draw attention to yourself.

...actually looked like a real para - atrophied legs and everything... I saw the film with my friend who's a nurse and he squirmed and said "hell, his legs are atrophied" and I was a second away from blurting, "isn't that hot!".
