Thanks for updating. I don’t think I ever replied long ago. I work as a nurse right now on Molokai, Hawaii for 2 years til I retire. It’s a secluded settlement. Water on 3 sides and Pali ( cliffs) on 4th. It’s called Kalaupapa and was and is the Hansen’s Disease settlement( leprosy). Interesting, challenging, beautiful place. I’ve been a nurse for almost 40 years and have done a wide array of strange jobs besides hospital.

Thread resurrection but why not...never replied before... I am a hospital Pharmacy Technician, sometimes also work in an outpatient Oncology clinic. I do everything, prepare Infusions, Chemotherapy, Triage, medication reconciliation where I work in the ER mostly, work with medication dispensing machines (Pyxis), compounding oral meds and, and, and. Sometimes also help in the hospital outpatient pharmacy for discharges. Love my job and the variety it brings, sometimes super stressful though

There is a newer thread about this that I replied to but I'll reply again. I work at a probation office as a clerical worker. I input information in the computer, fingerprint the probationers, take their picture, answer the phone, receptionist work, etc. I've been there 24 years, dont plan on going anywhere.

I supervise 8 social workers at a non-profit agency that provides in-home support and services to elders in their homes with the goal of keeping them there as long as safely possible. My specific unit works in conjunction with insurance agencies that run Senior Care Options programs which manage Medicare and Medicaid and expands on those benefits to give no cost care. People who join these programs have access to no cost glasses, hearing aids, dentures and dental implants, medical transportation, in-home services like home making and personal care, adult day health, gym memberships, and pay no co-payments or deductibles. My 8 supervisees case manage close to 1000 elders 65 and older. It's a hugely rewarding job and I love it!

I sell drugs. (I work for an infusion pharmacy- IV’s). We do home infusion and have an infusion center in our office. I am the one who has to get insurances to pay for peoples’ really really expensive drugs., like anywhere from $5000 per dose all the way up to $40k per dose. I think the most expensive patient I have is close to $1 mil per year in drug costs. It’s a pretty stressful and complicated job, as you can imagine insurance companies don’t easily hand over that kinda money without a fight. I’m not on the billing side, I’m in the front end approval side, so it’s a lot of talking to patients about $$, setting them up with the various support resources, knowing the ins and outs of the insurances, etc. (Trying to get the patients to understand their own insurance coverage is almost as difficult as getting the insurances to pay). I actually love my job as much as it makes me want to cry/rage on some days. It’s very rewarding to be able to help people navigate this complicated system and be an advocate for them. These are life saving medications and medications that just make people’s quality of lives so much better, so it’s worth the fight to me. I used to be in management, but now work part-time and that’s been pretty amazing. That sounds like an amazing job....but i was kind of more excited by the line "i sell drugs" lol

I’m a graphic designer for a large media company. I work on the corporate in-house creative team, and most of what I design stays inside the company. A lot of it is employee communications and employee event materials, and then I also do some design work for executive presentations, retreats, parties, etc.
The work I do is not particularly innovative or thrilling, but the team is incredibly nice, the benefits and work/life balance is great, and the company offers some really incredible opportunities. I also work in a very historic building with some of the most talented people I’ve ever met, so it’s really humbling to play my tiny role in all of the cool work being done there.
I’m only a year out of college (got hired before graduating) but it’s been a wonderful experience so far and I’m really passionate and excited about the future of my career.

I work for a vape company, we have retail locations as well as a lab where we produce our own juice for our shops and wholesale.
For the retail side I'm in charge of keeping the shops stocked with hardware. On the wholesale side I'm responsible for taking the orders, invoicing and billing.

Blissfully on leave from work... Travelling, hanging out, loitering, riding bikes, running the sea wall, getting into trouble are now my full time occupation... Until the money runs out 😳

I’m an electrical estimator in the industrial/commercial construction industry. It’s an interesting and varied job, but can be quite stressful with the constant short deadlines and unrealistic budgets we have to meet; difficult clients; crap levels of design and tight margins.
I’ve been in the electrical trade for nearly 25 years now and it’s where I feel happy working. On the plus side - I can swear freely all day long, not have to work with many other women and talk utter bollocks with the men. On the downside, the men constantly fart, talk utter bollocks and behave like animals. But I wouldn’t change them. Much.
I always find it interesting that so many devs have jobs in various sectors of the medical profession.
