Oh my gosh, this thread brings back so many memories! I have to second Little House on the Prairie, Mac & Me, Highway to Heaven, Brandy Bunch 500, and Beverly Hills 90210. But for 90210, I don't remember Brandon's cousin. I remember Kelly falling in love with an older mentor/counselor guy in a wheelchair and getting sucked into his cult? We grew up without cable, so it made watching devy shows/movies even tougher. But I remember when we stayed at my grandparents (who had cable), I would scour through the guides/descriptions for anything with disabilities. For books, I remember in middle school reading: "I'll Be Seeing You" by Lurlene McDaniel, "See You Thursday" & "After Thursday" both by Jean Ure. I've actually acquired and re-read all three of them recently. It's kinda funny reading Young Adult books now as an adult, but it's also very nostalgic!

Don't worry, we have a book thread, too: paradevo.proboards.com/thread/2934/new-old-good-books-check Well, actually we have 2 of them. This one is for the good books, and there's another one to warn us about bad books.

Anyone else here from UK? When I was very young there was this serial programme called Crossroads - on at 6pm 5 days/week. It had England's first 'disabled' character 'Sandy' Richardson- I used to watch it every day...obsessed with Sandy....he was supposed SCI from a car accident and (unusually for 1970s) portrayed as independent with normal job/hobbies etc...drawback is that he was not actually disabled. He actually had Hodgkins Lymphoma and died aged 31 in 1981 and was written out of the show. I stopped watching it. Hi tc2, I watched Crossroads for Sandy too! Although I didn't really find him particularly attractive (I don't think I liked his voice) I did like his wheel chair and crutches a lot! Are you old enough to remember The Racing Game (started in 1979), based on a Dick Francis novel, about a jockey who loses a hand and becomes a private detective? Now that gave me huge dev thrills and I fantasised about it for years afterwards (all based on one viewing too, as we didn't have a tv recorder back then in the stone ages).

Hi Elizabeth - yes I remember it with his oversized prosthetic arm! Was not convincing me..... Sadly there are no online clips from crossroads as they erased and used the tapes again...criminal, Sandy lost to erased tapes...

I remember a tv show I watched when I was young... I remember I had a "dev attraction" about that show... it was weird because the guy has only one functional hand (not my thing) but the show was devvy for me...guess it was hormonal cause I was 16!! Who remember "Stingray" with Nick Mancuso?

Oh wow, Patch from Days of Our Lives back in the day (I was really young and I'm not sure how DEV you can consider an eye patch but it was my first real dev crush)...MASH, Trapper John (basically ANY medical show that would have a chance of having a character with a disability). Guess I stopped watching 90210 before that character came on because I REALLY would have remembered that!

So...I totally forgot about Lieutenant Dan in Forest Gump! I tried to watch it again yesterday, but jesus that movie is dated now. I remember laughing at it when it first came out it was so hokey. But anything with Vietnam always pricked my interest (historical, not dev). I can't believe I forgot it, but that scene when both Forest and Dan are with girls, and she straddles Dan in his chair? I think that might have actually been the first time I associated with any sexual feelings, like a jolt of electricity and being kicked in the guts at the same time.

I remember this TV movie from the the late 70s about a guy who goes swimming and ends up paralyzed, temporary of course, it had a few devy moments, I cannot remember the name or any of the actors in it. I also remember this after school special with Scott Baio in a wheelchair, he was so sexy! I have searched for that one, to no avail.

If you know the actors name it is usually enough to search it in google to come up with something: Run Don't Walk or this other linkWith the other one I can't help either - the information is too wage - I don't even have any clue which country are you talking about.

Yes, that's why I'm having a hard time finding the actor, imdb.com is a good place to start if one had the name of course. I have seen the lead actor in other stuff, I know it, but only I can't remember what and its pissing me off, lol urggggghhhhh

IMDB doesn't contain everything - "Run Don't Walk" wasn't in there either.

I found it! I was watching a film called Gods and Monsters and he was in it, I couldn't believe it, his name was David Dukes and the film was called "Some Kind of Miracle."
