Hi, hello and welcome--
Being from eastern Europe is a slog enough, I would suspect-especially since it's not entirely PWD-friendly. This here place is VERY liberating, for a whole host of reasons, so just relax and enjoy-you're among friends...
Enjoy your stay...

Thank you, guys! (I am still trying to figure out the formatting, how to insert several quotes in one post, but till then I'll just link your usernames ) Celaena I'll definitely check the chat some time. hartmannwrites That it is! A££Y "Cuddles" Magoo You don't like Dracula jokes? I am disappointed. The Negură Bunget gigs I've attended are some of my fondest concert-memories. At least until OM, which is still my favorite BM album. Now I prefer DorDeDuh, the actual NB core imo. Cool to see also metalfans around here. rebel6842, blueskye101 Considering I've never talked to anyone about my unusual attraction, this place is becoming more and more a precious island. Honestly, I didn't expect such a welcome, so yes, it does feel like being among friends. Later edit: Just as I suspected, I suck at formatting.

I have a few friends in Philippines, and I asked them 'so what happens to guys that end up paralyzed, like me, over there?' And they said, 'They are useless...can't drive, have no money, nothing accessible.' How are conditions in Romania,I wonder.

I know they do receive some pension from the state, as well as allowance for personal assistants/caregivers, but I have no idea how much that is. I imagine it might be better than in the Philippines, though. Romania is in the European Union, so in theory, there are all these norms that have to be applied, but in real life, things don't seem very accessible to me. Even for me, boarding a train is a challenge if I have some luggage because I am on the small side and those steps are usually high and huge. You barely see ramps or wide enough doors in public spaces. The toilets in malls, large shops and gas stations seem to be more evolved in terms of accessibility, but that is way too little. Things are changing, but slowly.

Ok wait Transylvania?! Is that where you are specifically or just a mythical place in Romania? Sorry I love Anne Rice vampires but know nothing about the old school vampire stories. Welcome. I look forward to hearing more from you Seireenien.

What's up with you, guys? Not scared of devs, but of a few little, dark and toothy creatures? I ain't afraid of no vamps! not if they look like Deborah Ann Woll anyway. I wouldn't mind an Alexander Skarsgard vamp either. But I'm afraid they don't dig Eastern Europe, way too old-school and probably too much garlic in the local cuisine. Thank you, @tykes ! Emma, I really am from Transylvania, the central area of Romania, also called Ardeal. Born and raised in quite a large city, in a country with one of the fastest and cheapest internet connections, I realize that the old myths are dying in face of the modern, commercial ones. It's fascinating however to see how these original myths have survived in the countryside, where tales and superstitions are uttered with the same conviction like the five o'clock news are (I may be exaggerating a tad bit, but you get the idea). The local folklore is more focused on strigoi, sometimes moroi (some kind of evil spirits looking to materialize, or undead people) than on the vampire. These creatures of Romanian legends are worlds apart from the elegant, sophisticated, intellectual vampires of Bram Stoker, Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris etc. They are more demonic, being able to bring death and disease to their community, kill animals, influence weather conditions to a negative outcome, and if they do possess a body, they suck the blood directly from the heart. Nothing glamorous about them. Ok, time to finish the essay. Thank you for welcoming me, Emma! I find your posts here on PD very interesting and think there are quite a few things we have in common. Would love to get to talk to you some time.
