We certainly didn’t deserve Daredevil because it was canceled 😭 I’m still heartbroken. I’ve been trying to get people here to talk about superheroes forever. Please post more! If you look through my old posts (especially in devs only, sshhh) you will see a ton of recommendations for devvy comics and manga. If you haven’t read the Matt Fraction Hawkeye series, it’s the best. I loved it so much I wrote fan fiction 😅 Also if you’re into blind guys I can’t recommend the webtoon Flawless highly enough. The first part is meh but by season 2 it really takes off. It’s the devviest thing I’ve read in ages. If anyone wants to start an Elios fan club here I am all in.

Writing your own plays! That’s awesome! I’ve always wanted to do that. Not to toot my own horn but I’m actually scoring/soundtracking a play my friends play company is putting on.
I’m new to plays though and haven’t seen many. What are your favorite ones? Outside of Shakespeare.

I’m new to plays though and haven’t seen many. What are your favorite ones? Outside of Shakespeare. That's amazing! You should for sure give it a try. They are super fun to write! If you have any interest in reading scripts you might might consider: It's a little "basic," but I love Tony Kushner and will always suggest "A Bright Room Called Day" or his classic epic "Angels in America." Also Rajiv Joseph is amazing (I suggest "Bengal Tiger at the Bagdad Zoo" or "Guards at the Taj"). Then "4000 Miles," by Amy Herzog, "The Whale," by Samuel Hunter, "Too Much, Too Much, Too Many," By Meghan Kennedy, "War is Fucking Awesome," by Qui Nguyen, are a few of my random faves at the moment. I'm not actually a huge Shakespeare person though, I tend to go for more modern stuff (modern by comparison).

And at some point I will write one! At some point I wanted to write one inspired by Mad Men/ the 60's in general.

Welcome from a fellow theatre loving NYC member! Do you have any favorite shows running right now? I’m a sucker for Book of Mormon, and I was really impressed by Moulin Rouge which I just saw last week.
I’m partial to musicals, but I’ll do some straight plays if they’re comedies or if I can get reasonable tickets.

I'm really vibing with the folkier sound some new musicals are playing with. Like, I love everything by Pig Pen Theatre Co. and wish they'd bring something to NYC. I've been debating going to see Moulin Rouge. I meandered through their load in a few months ago and stole a cookie from their crew table and I've felt guilty ever since. Feel like if I bought a ticket I'd feel less bad.

If I don’t get it soon, I’ll probably end up giving up and buying That and Oklahoma are really the only ones out now that I’m still dying to get to.

It's very worth it, even if you have to buy, but I'll send positive vibes to Thespus (the god of theatre lotos) on your behalf. I want to see Oklahoma so bad!! My friend said it's terrifying in the best way and I want to be TERRIFIED

Welcome!!! I’d like to think of myself as a writer but truth is I just dabble (then decide everything I wrote is crap, drop it, wait a bit, start a new project, repeat) and I would love to discuss introducing dev bits in non-dev prose. I do that pretty much all the time and at different levels of sneaky. Also I happen to be a childminder too and can attest floor cheerios are absolutely a fundamental part of any healthy diet!
