Hello everybody! I hope you’re all currently smiling and enjoying your day. I’ve been exploring PD for a while now (on and off for a few years) and recently my therapist was like, “[Cilantro] it’s time to stop being so ashamed of your devonity.” She is quite wise, and so I’ve decided to do as she says and introduce myself to the community. I’m 24 and live right outside of NYC. Here’s some other random stuff: I dance like an absolute fool, playgrounds call to my soul, ENFP, I’m currently reading “Dante’s Inferno,” and just finished binging “Daredevil.” My day job is teaching three year olds (“what do I teach them?” you may be asking: primarily that it’s ok to cry, but not if it’s about something weird like not being allowed to eat floor Cheerios, the difference between the functions of sinks and toilets, and their abcs). My night job is as a playwright, librettist, and lyricist. I have an amazing writing partner who I write original musicals with, plus I write my own plays. I’m interested to know for other writers/story tellers, if you’ve been able to explore devness in any of your pieces (distributed outside of this community) I may start a separate thread about it because I think it’s pretty interesting in, like, a Tennessee-Williams-making-all-of-his-characters-secretly-gay-but-in-a-way-where-only-gay-people-noticed type of way. Anyhow that’s me! Say hello, or match-make me or something. Here’s a photo of me, which I will describe for anybody who can't see it: Here I sit. I am a porcelain girl, with blue eyes, and dark curly hair that is long, but pinned half up. I’m not wearing makeup, (out of pure laziness) but thank goodness for the ring light that’s glaring off my glasses, because I look really luminous here. That reminds me, I am wearing glasses, which are wire rimmed with a subtle black cat eye and make me feel like a 40s ballerina running late to a class her class at NYU. I am also wearing a gold party hat and a smile that really is quite joyous. And I'm single? Wow! Thanks for sticking around everybody. What a time to be alive!

That’s awesome! Welcome from a fellow writer. Be sure to check out the stories site linked at the top of the page here, and feel free to start posting there if you want to. And yes, make all your characters devs! That’s what I do, even of the characters are not aware of it themselves they all basically are.

I liked reading your Intro ) welcome to PD. Whats the problem with floor Cheerios? Oh my gosh, truly they are a delicacy. To be clear, my kids have eaten cheerios off the floor (I mean, I'm not a monster), but when I've swept up your cheerios and offered you new ones, but you decide that box cheerios just won't cut it anymore... then we have a problem. And my sweet little honey bees have tried it, trust me.

Welcome Cilantro, glad to have you here on PD and looking forward to see you hang out with us. You sound like you have awesome hobbies, very interesting. And yes, I agree with devogirl, check out our Fiction Blog and add to it if you have some stories already and yes, definitely anything related to being a dev is appreciated. All my female characters are devs, unknowingly or knowingly and having been in denial. Personally for me writing has been a tremendous extension of my dev journey. A new thread would be awesome on that topic.

Big fan I tip my hat to you, writing a play is infinitely more complex than a novel. You have to take into consideration not only the plot and dialogue, but the way the dialogue is presented, setting and decor, possible musical accompaniment, and flow.

I used to work as a costume designer so I really like feeling like I still have control over that as the writer. Lately, I've been finding it funny to just exercise my control in impractical ways, like "There must be a WWI cannon on stage. Nobody is to look at it or acknowledge it, but you must have it because it is part of my vision."
