Hi I am new to the sight 39/yo M. I am a service connected disabled OEF/OIF Veteran I live in the PNW. I got out of the Navy in 2003 and have had circulation issues in my legs with multiple surgeries. The VA prescribed me to wear compression stockings and an Afo brace on my left ankle for foot drop. I am self conscious when people stare at my brace and being it is from an injury during service it’s hard to talk about it when people ask what happened. I hope to meet new people here that don’t mind disabilities

Hello and welcome along, you are in the right place for people who embrace disabilities not just don't mind them.
Can I please ask you what OEF/OIF and VA are?
I think PNW is Pacific North West. Yes?

Still no idea. Lol! I'm assuming our US members will understand.
Thanks anyway and enjoy it here.

I know there have been veterans on here in the past. I'm not sure if there are any that have actively participated in discussions lately. Welcome though!

I had a car crash whilst coming home on leave in the British Army, that was in 1990. It left me tetraplegic,

Hi welcome to pd. I’m sure there are a few veterans on the board so hopefully you will connect with them.

@contingentlycomposite - No need to apologize. Not your job to keep track of us. LOL. britishtetra FAVORITE event of the years is the Hartford Ski Spec in Breck every year because we always have a group of wounded Brit vets that attend. THEY ARE ALWAYS A BLAST! Having been a part of a Cavalry unit here in the states.. we pride ourselves on working hard and playing hard. Part of playing hard is knocking them back with the best of them... BUT I WILL SAY.. that of the 4 times I've been there.. the Brit vets have drunk me under the table 3 out of the 4 times. I think moving forward... I will have to retire that game. Can't hang like I used to. BUT always have a blast with them.. whether we are ripping it down mountains.. tossing some darts.. and knocking back some drinks.

Are there any disabled veteran members? I was injured on Dec. 7th, 2005 in Ramadi on my third deployment. How were you injured if you don't mind me asking? Where did you get treated at? I was hit by an IED and did most of my surgeries at Bethesda, then transferred to Walter Reed and did prosthetic stuff there until the prosthetic department at Balboa opened up.
