Thanks I don't really like most of the devo sites out there, to be honest. I prefer the personal pages of real disabled guys (like yours, Paul). I like the personal accounts best.

I've done stupid things that I can't believe I did, in retrospect. Switching classes to be with someone in a wc, even if I wasn't going to talk to them, etc.
But along the lines of what V said, I've spent hours and hours on the internet searching for and reading personal accounts of real SCIs... and I've read all the message boards. I guess that's not too insane though, is it?

My best meetings have been by chance. I actually had this really bizarre experience in college that still sticks in my mind. I was in the computer lab when this wc user who I had seen around a lot but never really talked to started using the kiosk next to mine. Naturally, I attempted to start up a conversation, but got interrupted.....
This random girl came over to him and started HITTING ON HIM. It was really strange because apparently he didn't even know her and she just came over with this whole story about how she had a dream about him. The poor guy didn't know what to make of the whole thing. (I always wondered if she was a devo.)
The good that came out of it was that it gave ME an opening to start talking to him..... (I'm a selfish bastard)

One of my favorite places is gambling establishments. I'd say that Atlantic City is probably the best of all of them. (That's where my story of the same title came from.)

Are the stories usually fictional, or are any of them true or based in truth? If true, do the subjects know their stories are on the 'net. That's a good question. Speaking for myself, I don't think I could write anything that didn't have any basis in reality. Most of the stories I've written are mosaics of things I've heard from disabled individuals I've talked to or met and devo stories I've read in the past. Usually I alter the details and change the context so that even if the person who had told me the story originally read it, they very well might not recognize it as their own. Austin is the first character (from my stories, at least) that is completely based on the experiences of one person that I know. And no, he has no idea I've written about him... I don't think he'd mind especially, but I'd feel funny telling him. I can't speak for my other authors, but I think some of those stories have a stronger basis in reality. Paul's stories (Martin, Holiday, The Trip) are probably reality based, as well as Jeremy's stories.

Thanks I did write the words but it's strongly based on an experience that actually happened to someone I know (who would undoubtedly be quite surprised if he knew I was writing about him). I changed a lot of details, but I'd rather not tell the real story because I don't want to ruin the illusion and I'd like to protect his identity. But he was just a really great guy and I had to write about him.

If I tried to explain it, I don't know if I could. It's like asking someone why they like blondes or something like that. Even the sight of a wheelchair, even if no one is in it, is enough to turn me on bigtime.
As to when it started, I think I've been like this my whole life. Some of my earliest "sexual memories" are of getting turned on by paras. I think I sort of knew there were guys out there who liked female amputees, but I wasn't aware of the whole devo community until I found paracathy's page. It changed my life and gave me the idea to post some of the stories I had been writing secretly since I was a teenager.

Hey, I resent that stereotype.... there are plenty of ladies out there who like fair guys. That or they've just been wishing I were darker...
Definitely liking great abs and big boobs fit into the evolution theory (as DevBoy pointed out). But I think the world is moving away from that sort of thing. Why else would people like these skinny models who probably couldn't even bear kids at that weight? And if perpetuating my genes is the main thing that matters, I'm pretty much screwed for liking other guys, with or without disabilities.

You don't need to sign up to post a message.
You can post as a guest. Very easy.
Msg boards are no fun if people don't write stuff.

She means ME, people. Princess has a boner for violinists, and I happen to be a (former) violinist. Much as I'd love to write about someone being successful at a career I bombed at.... we'll see

Here's a question, if only something to guide me in my writing:
What aspect of paras do you find most appealing?
For example, write a 1-2 sentence description of a hot para.
A follow up question is: what aspect of paras do you find LEAST appealing?

i swear i've read every story on the stories page. how come i don't recognize half the characters that are being mentioned here? That's weird. There's only one stories page, far as I know. (And I should know.) Jordan is from "Cruel Intentions". Ben is from "The Rugby Player". Austin is from the newest story, "Rehabilitation". What names are you specifically not recognizing?

What changed your mind about liking Jordan?
