SittingPretty,
My opinion, for whatever it's worth, is to pick a career/life plan now, that's attainable as you are now, secure in the knowledge that as you improve you will become more and more efficient and possibly less "limited" by whatever you decide now. I'm not saying to stop rehabbing, but start getting what you need for the future you desire accomplished, be that schooling/training, housing, transportation, etc. As the years progress, especially for incompletes like us, the morning "struggle" will get somewhat easier and streamlined, and all your ADL's will strengthen you as much as rehab and make life "easier" and more time efficient. The key is not putting things off, but being realistic in your choices now. The more effort you put in now, the easier things are down the line. The toughest thing is picking a career/life path that is sustainable over the years from a chair accounting for the extra effort required to perform in an AB world.
Whatever you choose, the best of luck to you. It sounds to me like you're already thinking long-term and considering the intricacies and differences that life ahead will encompass.

Sitting Pretty and Cunning, FWIW, please don't worry if it turns into a coping with SCI post. It's pretty important to have peers out there who really 'get it', and if this board can help people with that, so much the better.
I have worked in medicine for the past 25 years. I would say that I am a seasoned medical professional, however, I have NEVER gone what you are going through. Reading posts like these makes me just shut my mouth and listen, listen, listen and listen some more.

I'm a para girl. I found this site linked from another forum and have dug thru the post a few times. Unfortunately for me I've yet to run across what I'm looking for. A sexy devo boy! It's not that I havent found what I'm looking for here necessarily, just that I'm too lazy to read all the post! It seems the mass here is devo girls and guys in chairs. Just when I thought dev males out numbered the females it looks as though I may be wrong! So, any cute guys? to bad you do not like wheeler guys... I am cute a wheeler and i love wheeler chicks.... dose that make me a devo?.... humm this could be a topic in its self
