Hahaa....that's some fucked up reverse psychology, Triass!!! I think she had some real issues, and they just came out in crude way. Thinking about starting a thread for 'nightmare dates.' I'd like to hear some other 'dates gone to hell.' ; ) Disability related, or not. Maybe some good dates, too...

Yeah, there does seem to be widespread racism in Australia, though I would say it stems more from ignorance than hatred. The media plays things up a bit, there seems to be a lot of opposition to letting in refugees, and there are politicians that have come out in favour of a 'white Australia'. It seems that unless you live in areas that are multicultural (e.g. West Sydney) most Australians avoid other ethnicity's unless they're middle class. There's also commonly used insults (gooks, nips, terrorists, black cunts etc) and stereotypes (Asian drivers, Muslims are trying to take over, Lebanese are all criminals etc), whilst I'm sure this type of stuff happens everywhere, people here believe it's harmless and not racist at all. I can recall a time back in hospital when a guy from a country town said 'fuck off you little nip' to a 3 three year old Asian girl who had curiously ventured over to our group. Also, apart from Ernie Dingo and a couple of comedians, you mostly only see white people on Television. You almost never see minorities on Neighbours or Home and Away. There would be few worse examples of racism throughout history than 'the stolen generation'. Aboriginals cop it pretty bad here, there's a huge disparity when it comes to health, life expectancy and education. I've met many who have this 'us' and 'them' attitude, indigenous culture is rarely embraced if at all.

Thats exactly what I was thinking when I read the story. Or maybe she just didnt like your nose - or whatever... I would have talked with her about the issue, explained her for example that asians (the japanese) were the friends of hitler in ww2 - or the (mostly dark) people from india were regarded as a part of the "Aryan Race" - even the svastika, the main and well known nazi symbol comes originally eastern religions, and is widely used in Hinduism and Buddhism. So with a little chat about that stuff its eays to see if people know what they talking arbout or if they just bullshitin' around ;D

No unfortunately not.
I shortened the story a bit, as I said it was a bit worse than that. She actually got quite angry when i was questioning her beliefs. Some of what she said was quite ridiculous, she was a hypocryte as well. In total we were probably at the restaurant for 45 to 50 minutes, in that time the conversation got quite heated, I wouldnt, have left without a fair bit of provocation, I am a calm sort of person.
I live in a small city 30,000 and have since found out she has left uni, she had a number of run ins with people similar to mine.
It is interesting you have that opinion, without meaning to be rude, maybe that says more about you than me or the story?

I think it says something about the general attitude of wheelers. If something went almost comically wrong, it must have been my fault.

Most racists probably wouldn't know that obscure trivia. Education and hate definitely do not go hand in hand. I agree, so it was suprising that someone that had started University would be so ignorant. Unfortunately someone with some degree of influence had probably convinced her of this position!

Education and hate definitely do not go hand in hand. You are right, and its always a pleasure to give some education to certain people. For example I like to teach christians or jehovas about the bible ;D

Actually, that sounded damn harsh, I apologise to both of you! I worked for 14 hours today and then drove 2 hours home, so am probably a little short.
After rereading my post would like to add... maybe you guys are right, and I was just too arrogant to see it.
Nah; I am right and you are wrong ;D ;D ;D
But I understand your opinion and you are most welcome to share them with me!
