Again, I didn't mean to be critical of anyone else's approach, I just have my reasons for being open with my family (who are actually extremely sexually repressed and do not talk about these things). I guess for me as well, my career complicates things. My parents need to deal with the fact that I write books about these feelings! Not so easy to hide that

lmao--- now that is something lucretia! That ex of yours thinks about you an awful lot, or at least enough to come up with oddly witty yet biting comments-- that gave me a laugh.

Annie, it's good to hear from you. I'd been wondering if things were still awesome. It's fab to hear that they are. S Inigo, It's good to hear someone was rooting for me, thank you. I have missed being on the board somewhat regularly, however, with trying to plan a wedding in under a year I have hardly had time to sleep or think! I really owe everyone on here a lot for giving me a place to sort out all my crazy thoughts and emotions, If I hadn't had a place to vent, I honestly don't know if my relationship would have ever worked out the way it has. I am a lucky lady and I try to never take that for granted.

As I've mentioned, my ex knows all about my dev-ness... or thinks he does, in any case. I've also mentioned previously my middle daughter's fascination with all things wheelchair and/or crutch related. We were in the ER yesterday with our YOUNGEST daughter (who HAD to have Mom there, too!! She's fine, just a really bad scraped knee, but I went up there to sit with them, of course). He and I were making small talk during the course of the afternoon (several hours... it was the ER after all), and as could be expected, my recent date came up in conversation, because... well... me dating is a really big deal, apparently. LOL At one point my daughter looked at the doctor and quite seriously and asked if she could use a wheelchair until her knee stops hurting. Her father looked at me and raised his eyebrows... I shrugged and said, "Maybe it's genetic?" He just shook his head.. Anyway... toward the end of the visit and when we knew we were heading out soon, he looked at me and said, "That piano? In your entry? It's a problem. You should move it." :-) That sounds rather sweet of him, actually! I just wanted to say that I don't think that sort of thing is a sign of devness. When I was a little kid everyone was interested in wheelchairs because they just seemed like fun. Like swirly office chairs. And it seemed neat to not have to walk. It seemed like everyone was always playing with or lounging in any hospital-style wheelchairs laying around. I wasn't like that. Because my fascination with wheelchairs was so sexual and so intense, I avoided them. I didn't want to be caught looking at them, I didn't want to play with them where anyone might see. I couldn't even say the word. I don't know if that's common among us or not, but from my own experience, if I see a kid open and curious about wheelchairs, I figure she isn't a dev!

You know what? A ramp is an excellent thing to have whether or not things work out with that particular guy! If you build it, he will come

Soooo... updates: I've chatted with my priest a few times over the past weeks and she's asked every time how it's going, relationship-wise with wheelers... so that's very cool. I wish I had more juicy stuff to report, but things are progressing nicely. :-) But the BIG NEWS is: I told my sis all about it. She'd made a few snide comments regarding my "weird fetish" so I figured it was past time to sit her down and have a chat. Last weekend we spent the day together and we had a few hours to kill, so I took her on a tour of my facebook, my yahoo friends list, and finally paradevo. I showed her a few keys posts (Stillness, for one!!) and let her just read and absorb. She said she still didn't totally get it, but was cool with it. :-) Soooo... I wonder if there's anyone left that doesn't know? LOL My daughter told our new roommate last night, Mom talks to a lot of guys, but they are ALL in wheelchairs... *shrug* It's mostly true. LOL Way to go! That's wonderful news.

I used to love watching those home improvement shows on PBS. They were making a home accessible for a family who's son had been in an accident. They said how much of a percentage of us would end up disabled or invalid in our lives.
The guy also said that it didn't cost too much more to make things accessible at the building of a house. Things like light switches lowered, doors widened......

I think there should be universal design... I remember reading about it years ago. Yes! It was a big deal about fifteen years ago, and then it seems to have just fizzled out. I don't understand why! It was a brilliant idea.
