Humor aside, I hate a certain stereotype populating the Paradevo world: That when it comes to sex, AB guys are dick driven machos who don't know how to really satisfy a woman and will only think about shoving their penis in and out of a vagina. The same Paradevo myth includes that all guys in chairs are terrific lovers who know exactly how to satisfy a woman, because they are soo much more tender and attentive and don't have their brain in their balls. That stereotype is the essence of many stories on this site and if there were more devotee romance novels, it would be in there constantly. Am I the only one who's bothered by it? I read this the other day and really gave it some thought. I do agree with you in some ways Cake and on occasion see this thinking here. I think for me it comes out in a softer fashion. AB men aren't for me. It has nothing to do with them... everything to do with me. I am not sexually attracted to them. I am just not. I am sexually attracted to wheeler guys... a physical disability of some sort. My attraction to this does not mean that AB are not attractive... just not to me. They aren't all about the penis (okay not some), not all about themselves (okay not some) and not self-centered (I may be wrong on this one!). All wheelers are not gentle, kind and caring. I met one that was not. I have only met a few so I am sure there are more loser wheelers out there. I guess I just wanted to say I see this attitude here on PD on rare occasion. Moreso in the past than now. But it is here....

I met one that was not. I have only met a few so I am sure there are more loser wheelers out there. I guess I just wanted to say I see this attitude here on PD on rare occasion. Moreso in the past than now. But it is here.... Exactly, that's my thought too. And the fact is, even though I'm sure that I need disability in my relationships now, the man who treated me the absolute worst, the man who was emotionally abusive, cruel, selfish, and hurtful, he was a disabled guy! I wrote a story based on him and now I'm not sure what to do with it. Maybe you guys will have some thoughts. I've made it my mission to write stories that will inspire ab people to reexamine how the stereotype disabled people. I write a blog about misuse of disability in movies and books. This story I've written is one of the best I've ever written, according to my writing group (and it's a group full of very knowledgeable and talented people!) They want to see my pursue publication for it. It wouldn't be under the name Ruth Madison. I have three different names I write under for three different kinds of writing and this one would fall under the literary writer's name. But it does show a disabled man who is bitter, mean, angry, hurtful, resentful, and hopeless. Not exactly the image of disability that I want portrayed in the media, and yet it isn't a stereotype, it's the literal truth. No one is going to know that, and I'm afraid people won't realize that this is just an individual example of one person with a disability and not a statement that being disabled makes you bitter and angry, etc. What do you think?

And playing dumb. And... his response wasn't bad... it went with the thread. It's just that it wasn't supposed to be here. And I'm sick of the guys not even pretending not to read. I'm from the south where it's considered rude to notice the things you're supposed to ignore. ;D
