he can be an independent c5 quad,it depends on how bad the spinal cord was damaged, also what abiliies he does have, how much equipment he has to aid his independence, access etc I am c6/t1 incomplete. I have all the abilities of a para, though have the quad paunch and get spasms in legs. I am totally independent "except cant change lightbulbs"

I finally saw Murderball. Thanks to damedevo, I went and rented it.
Sad to say, I was a little disappointed. I must be in a dark cave or something, I had no idea it was a reality-type show. I was looking forward to an actual movie.
I must say, though, I was very impressed with the openness of all the players. Their personalities and charisma are definitely an added bonus for any devo, wouldn't you agree?

I just got Live Flesh from Netflix. I am not a big Javier Bardem fan -- he isn't my type, even as a wheeler. But it was a good film. The actress who plays Elena, Francesca Neri, was unbelievably stunning.
I love The Men. Brando. Sigh. Gorgeous.

There is an old Ironside episode ("Split Second to an Epitaph") that glosses over plenty but at least includes a scene in which our paraplegic protagonist declines to coddle a newly disabled man, whom their mutual surgeon has sent to Ironside for solace. As Ironside warms up to his subject, he shouts at the cowed man: "It starts out as pure hell and gets worse...It's a lot of hell, Ralph. It's impossible, Ralph! You can't take it, Ralph-- any of it! Nobody can!" And after a long pause: "But you do." I really like that. Who ever came up with that must have had some inside information. that really sums it up rather well.

You all should check out ''Scissors'', it's an older flick with Nichole Kidman, it's kind of on the lines of a who dunnit (sp). I don't think it's listed in our reviews, so I'll get around to it soon, promise.

Do you mean Scissors with Sharon Stone? www.disabilityfilms.co.uk/limb2/scissors.htmI've seen The Ex. It's nothing special. For those of you who haven't, it stars Zach Braff, Amanda Peet, and Jason Bateman. ZB and AP play a couple who've just had a baby and need $$, so they move from New York City back to Ohio so he can take a job with her father's advertising firm. Jason Bateman plays Chip, a para who is the firm's star employee and also Amanda's ex-boyfriend. Amy Poehler is in it, though, and funny as always.

I am sooo right on top of that. I watched a movie with a wheeler in it, unknowingly too, but will type up a review asap. This vacation is eating up a lot of my internet time at the moment, so it will most liklley be Monday before I can sit down and get to business. Sorry.
