For ripping a DVD with subtitles, I find a program called Handbrake works really well. There's an option in a pull-down menu to include subtitles, and you can play a test clip to make sure it's working properly.
But anyway, I'm sorry to hear people are having such trouble getting to watch the movie. I thought it would be easier. Don't worry, you don't have to have watched the movie to participate in the chat. We could have a continuing discussion next month if more people watch it later. Or maybe a double feature with Sympathy for Delicious. But anyway if you want to participate in the chat (this Wednesday at 8 pm US Eastern time) please do join us whether you've seen the film or not.

I downloaded Handbrake... do I have to do anything special to it? Or will it just rip on it's own?

It won't add the subtitles automatically. I don't have it on this computer so I can't tell you which menu it's in but look around. There are websites that explain how to do it. And be patient, it can take an hour or more to rip the whole file.

No, your not late! If you post in 2 hours (or even 24 hours) I'll still have time to watch it before chat Wed night.

It's 2.01 GB which puts me JUST over the 2 GB limit... and has sent me to another place... where it doesn't seem to be doing ANYTHING. =/

Hey Inigo - Could you possibly cut off the tail end of the file (like during the credits)? If you're just .01 GB over that might do the trick... and cutting off the end rather than the beginning wouldn't (I think) interfere with the timing. Z

I think, I think it works! www.megaupload.com/?d=16GIIB1XAnd, I think it could've worked on Monday if I'd had a frickin' clue about what I was doing. lol
