I'm glad people liked the cover I made!
That review was a little disappointing, although a little odd... "not what [they] expected from these authors"... what did that mean? It's completely different writers than Paradox.
I liked Devoted more than Paradox, if I'm being completely honest. I was pleased that it was mostly new material that can't be found on the site.
If anyone would like to put up a good (honest) review, that would be great. Devogirl, I agree it's probably ethically wrong for you to review the book, since you were a contributor.

I disagree and think DG should put up a review just state in the review that she is not reviewing the section she wrote. Since its written by all different authors and she is not making money off sales what would be wrong with her posting a review.
BTW is anyone making a profit off the sales or do they go to the printing, paper, time put into editing and compiling it and whatever expenses go into the books creation?

If I recall it right I know I read somewhere (sorry.... this freaking cold is affecting my neurons!) that almost everything is for charity. Sorry, if I am wrong.

Yes, the proceeds of the book go to LifeRollsOn.org
But rather than debating whether or not I should write a review, why not write one yourselves? So far we still only have the one negative review. Those of you who have read it, please leave a review on Amazon, it does make a difference.

But you are so much better at writing them that I am DG I'm happy to hear the proceeds are going there. Are they dev friendly?

I don't mind if Devogirl writes a review, but I do agree that it's borderline sketchy. It would be great if someone else could do it.
Like DG said, the proceeds go to Life Rolls On, which Ruth felt was a good charity. A small portion are also going to advertising, as Ruth sees fit. (I've put her in charge of all that stuff)

As Lees said, not all the proceeds, but the vast majority of them are going to liferollson.org. I keep some occasionally to test out advertising, but it's at least 90% going to Life Rolls On. (ETA: Oh, I should say that's after Amazon takes their cut. They do take some for the printing costs on the paperback, etc.)
I have no idea if they are dev friendly but I like their mission statement about getting people with SCI back out into the world and helping them learn sports. It's a very life-positive message.
Every month when I donate, I list that the reason for the donation is proceeds from these books, so I'm curious if they will ever look up what they are!

I have a free story for kindle, Stewart's Story and it was getting about 300 downloads a month until someone wrote a three star review. And it was a nice review, they liked it, but just not *that* much. Downloads are now around 100 a month. Since the story is free, I know that the review is pretty much the only thing that could cause that!

Well, there is a second review now so hopefully that will increase some traffic and help to balance out the more critical review

Oh, EJ, that is lovely. And I agree. I found the early dev memories section incredibly moving. It was so real and so emotional, it was my favorite part.

I'm so delighted to let you all know that in May, even though the book was only out at the end of the month, we raised $136.88 for charity! (That includes both Devoted and Paradox).

And another $130 for June! I love that our writing and our enjoyment of these stories is benefiting people in real life who have spinal cord injuries!

$50 for August. I think it might be time to try some more advertising!
