One of the things I love about Jane Austen books is her lack of physical character descriptions. In Pride an Prejudice she doesn't really tell you what any of the characters look like so as a reader you can build up your own picture. Though it is hard to get away with not thinking Darcy looks like Colin Firth. Also in general she doesn't go into too much description of the settings. I found that a relief when I read her as it is something that I find hard to balance, settings, descriptions, too much details and keeping the story going when I write.
I do like classic romance novels and love new takes on them with twists. If I'm in the mood for a quick, easy, feel good story. Especially in times when my real life is stressed. Nothing like a bit of escapism.
Cristabell, I loved a Man Like Mac because there is something in the story which shows the reality of his disability and very un-mills and boons and I think she actually retaliates herself in kind.

That's really interesting, Tab. See, I personally am a big fan of scene setting - I don't need the characters to be described in perfect detail - but it's nice to at least have an inkling of what they look like, like how tall they are, what color hair they have, that type of thing.
But I also loathe Jane Austen, so hopefully we can still be friends? LOL.

Tabby, I know exactly what you're referring to. It's... odd *giggle* I don't know if her reaction was quite how I would have dealt with that particular situation, but it sure was creative!

I wont be joining any Jane Austen Book Clubs (though I love that film!!!!) The book that I hated the most for scene setting was Atonement. It just felt like he was trying to fill in a word count.
