I'm new here. I'm a 21-year-old male with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type II in Arizona. Some of my favorite bands are Arcade Fire and the Pixies, but recently I've been listening to Nubian music. I like writing, philosophy, and economics. I hope to get into Disability Studies once I get back into school. Uh, what else am I supposed to say?
I guess that's about it. Condensing your personality into internet blurbs is for the birds, I say!

We usually just let the new kids say as much or as little as they like. The more the better though! Welcome to the board Thanks. I have difficulty writing about myself. I guess I'm just a listener at heart, even on the internet.

I have difficulty writing about myself. Try writing in third the person maybe? Ugh, no - that's gonna be even worse. Anyhow, welcome! Hope to see you around.

I guess I could use the royal "we" like kings and queens used to. Um, OK, I guess I could add more about myself than I already have. I'm standoffish at first (obviously?). I don't know, I just like knowing who I'm talking to. Some wannabe writer I am. Oh yeah, my pipedream's to become a writer. Which is cool since I noticed that Paradevo offers a venue for fiction. Perfect. I already have a few short stories with disabled characters. In fact, I'm writing a short story right now with a character who is in a wheelchair. Like I said, I'm from Arizona. Mesa to be exact. Although I go to the bar street in Tempe all the time. I like microbrews a lot. I also like Middle Eastern food. Which reminds me: it's Ramadan. Meaning: awesome buffets. And now I'm hungry so I'm going to go eat mac and cheese to supplement shawarma hunger pains.

Yes, welcome. We encourage you to post stories on the blog. We don't have many guys writing there, and it's always good to have more. Send an email to Lee at paradevo@yahoo.com and ask him to add you as an author. You must have a gmail account. Please read the rules for posting carefully, basically, because it's a blog, you have to back date your entries so people can read them in the correct order.

I never realized Ramadan meant awesome buffets. lol Makes sense tho. It's great because Muslim families will walk into the restaurant at 7:00PM on the dot with a very literal hunger in their eyes. They haven't eaten or drank anything all day and they mean business. I would never cut in that buffet line. Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody. I'll be sure to email Lee. (Thanks for his email address, devogirl.)

Welcome! Disability studies is interesting stuff have you read any of Tom Shakespeare's work? No, but his Arguing about Disability is (boldly) on my reading list. You can't really get much more relevant to my interests than by crossing philosophy with disability. Cultural Locations of Disability by Snyder and Mitchell is the only real DS text I've read thus far. It's definitely one of my favorite books in the critical non-fiction genre. The next DS book I'll be cracking open will probably be Sex and Disability. However, I must first finish Virginia Woolf.
