2 of 2 people found the following review helpful 1.0 out of 5 stars pathetic August 6, 2012 By Blue Lily Format:Kindle Edition the woman waited 20 years. she refused to move on. he loved the heroine when he needed her. over all the story is pathetic. it is hard to like the hero or the heroine. she went to his lap and played the music the minute she saw him, that bother me the most. how pathetic could you be? Comment | Was this review helpful to you? Yes No
Considering that this story, Blue Moon, is based on my own first love and how I wished it had turned out. Wow, that hurts!

Wow, that is suuuch a great review. Uggg. This is one reason I tend to read goodreads reviews now instead of amazon reviews, because at least at goodreads even if the review is negative it's actually well written and explains why they gave it the negative review...

Lol... did you look at her other reviews? She's worse than me with reading material. Two of the books she gave 5 stars to are about Billionaires.
She's a dumbass and that's why I don't do real reviews.

Thanks, guys I guess based on the poor writing in the review itself, I can content myself with thinking she's...not my audience.

I think she's just a terrible reviewer. I read some of her reviews for other romance novels and they barely even made sense. I'll see if I can get on there maybe this weekend and write an actual review for you lol.

I understand that you are hurt and the review is rude, but in the essence, I have the same feelings about Blue Moon and I dislike it for the same reasons. I don`t write this to hurt you, but because I feel honest feedback is the only way to improve, and we really need good writers that are interested in disabled men!

Well, the way I see it is that people are stupid sometimes. *shrug* The emotions were there for me, and she loved him disability and all, so that's what counts.

This is definitely helpful for me to know! Thank you. I had a comment on my blog from someone saying that they liked blue moon okay but much preferred Home Country. I'll have to look at them both and see how they are different. I absolutely want to continue to improve and do need honest feedback!

PS That's the same thing I'm going through with SttS! The whole Jeff going off the rails thing and "should she forgive him?" Yeah, I've been there. Not always pretty

One of my big issues is that I am impatient. I get the story written and I'm so excited to share it that I don't let it sit and breathe. Stories really do need that.
Write, edit, then leave alone for a while and reread as though you aren't the author. When I have the patience to do that, I smooth out a lot and get a better result.

I know, I hate getting critical comments on my writing! It really does hurt. But I have dished it out myself, as Tina said, it's important to give honest feedback.
I try to remind myself that you can never please everyone. Whenever I look at reviews for famous, very popular books, with hundreds of 5 star reviews, I always see some one and two star reviews. Even the best books have their critics, that's just the way it is.

I don't mind criticism if it's helpful. If it's not, then I pretty much try to ignore it.
It can be hard to get "bad" criticism, but if it's valid and the person has a good reason for saying so then I don't get mad at all. For example, I'm currently doing another draft of UnConventional after a friend pointed out that Di (the main female character) didn't seem likeable/sympathetic enough, like she didn't deserve Santiago (the main male character), so the story felt a bit unbalanced. I'm almost done going through and tweaking the draft again to work on her characterization and I think the book will be much better for it. I'm sure there will be some people who still don't like Di because she's a "cheater," but that's the point of the book and she has her reasons for what she does, and I'm trying to portray her as sympathetically as I can, so that you can relate to why she does what she does, even if you don't usually agree with it. But you can't please everyone all the time, lol.
But it can be hard to go through something that's "finished" and try to improve it... Believe me, feeling that big time with UnConventional. But every draft comes out even better than the last, and I'm confident by the time I'm "done" with it it will be much, much better than it was when I first completed it!!

Just imagine what it's like to to dig back into (W)hole and revise it! I finished it three years ago after working on it for ten years. lol. It is so difficult to rip open the seams or even to find the seams anymore.

Yes I would imagine that's very hard to do! I actually was thinking of you a bit while I wrote that post... I know often times when I go back to something so old I end up wanting to just rewrite it entirely ... so I feel your pain lol.
