I'm all for getting REAL feedback from readers - it makes us all better writers and makes the stories better for the community. But just slamming the stories and getting nasty is uncalled for.
While the removal of the Anon option may decrease the overall number of comments on the board, hopefully people will just create a pseudonym and post under that. Honestly it isn't hard to set up a pseudonym so hopefully more people will do that. I hate to see a dramatic decrease in community participation because of one bad apple.

I was very sorry that the anon comments led to Sean taking off his story completely. It does make you think about posting a story. Especially when you really have to phsyic yourself up to do it. And I didn't get a chance to read the new Lucky 13 and that is my FAVOURITE story. The comments were very harsh, I would have hoped if someone felt that strongly about a story they would have pm'd the person with helpful comments to improve the story.

And Sean, I'm sorry you got attacked and things escalated. Remember, don't feed the trolls. Constructive criticism is ok, but if you get a nasty ad hominem attack in the future, please report it and if it has no constructive value we will delete it. Responding to the attack just makes it worse.

Yeah I am sorry to anyone who got some of those really nasty comments. I agree that constructive criticism is one thing, but trolling is something else entirely. I hope this ameliorates the problem at least a bit and doesn't hurt people from commenting constructively in the future.

Yeah, I was really sad to see that Sean took the story off. I hope it gets reposted. I had only read about half of it and then I refreshed to find it had been taken down. Sean, if you read this - please put it back up.
It is so hard to not take attacks personally and want to attack back. But that really doesn't get anyone anywhere. Deleting and moving on is the way to go.
That being said, hit me with REAL criticisms and suggestions and I'm all ears. I'd almost rather hear that than a stock "Good chapter" comment.

Emma, there was someone who was trolling the fiction blog who had posted some nasty comments on a few of the stories, including a new one that Sean posted. No matter what anyone said, the troll just kept getting nastier and nastier. Sean ended up taking down his story and I guess Eleanore did too? That's basically what everyone is talking about.

It was pretty early this morning, and the authors' removed their posts pretty early as well.

I didn't take Lucky 13 down due to comments. I took the old story down because I'm working on a revised edition. I put a revised Chapter One up today and will put the rest up in it's entirety once I'm finished revising.
The comments on Sean's post got pretty mean-spirited. Not something I expected to see there.
