Seriously, are there ANY tv shows in the US with regular characters who are disabled? The only one I can think of is the Family Guy!!

I wasn't watching it, but apparently the guy who won on the NBC reality show Last Comic Standing is CP'er Josh Blue. Info and a clip here: www.nbc.com/Last_Comic_Standing/comics/josh_blue.shtmlI heard an interview with him on NPR, and since winning he gets a bunch of contracts, not just doing standup, but apparently NBC is considering letting him star in his own sitcom. Here's hoping they actually do a decent job, and it's not a diversity fiasco like Margaret Cho's "American Girl." You can hear the interview here, it's quite entertaining: www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5645410

I was flipping the channels last night and ran across a really stupid movie called "Out Cold" which seemed to be a comedy about some ski bums. One of the main dude's buddies was a para, but the film was so awful I couldn't watch more than 5 minutes to see if the para buddy ever did anything besides sit in the background. Has anyone seen this?

I just saw 'Dodgeball'; not a great film by any means, though Ben Stiller is funny.
What is remarkable about it is that a major character(an older man, admittedly) uses a powerchair and it's never even mentioned by anyone. He's just another person.

Yep - and I don't like it... It is actually worst - I bought it on a DVD, shipped to me from Germany and after that I found out I didn't like it...

So I was watching TV this evening and I just caught a few minutes of Friday Night Lights. Now ordinarily Devo Girl would not be interested in a show about high school football in Texas, but in one of the many sub-plots, the star quarterback was paralyzed. On the downside, his girlfriend is already cheating on him. But on the devo-liscious side, rather than going on and on in a maudlin vein about cures, right away they take him to a quad rugby game, it looked like the real Texas team. And the other guys in rehab seem to be real quads (unlike the pretty boy actor who is of course faking it). It's just a few minutes out of an hour show, but the show is pretty good, better than the average TV drama. Seems like proof right here that Murderball has already changed popular images of disabled people. So has anyone else been watching this show? You can watch the whole thing online at the NBC website.

Any one remember from the 70's the show Cannon. The detetive guy in a chair? It was a long time ago, do I have it right.
