Oprah Winfrey network has a new drama series called Delilah and the title character’s brother is a really buff real life para. Nothing too devvy yet but he’s really good looking and he’s been in every episode so far. ...and at least the character is played by a real-life para. That's a step in the right direction.

And in real life 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Yay!

The link doesn't take me to something specific, just Netflix in general (is it just me?). What's the title?

I just stumbled across this classic movie called Night Song from 1947. It stars Merle Oberon as a wealthy socialite who falls for a handsome blind pianist, and to get close to him, she pretends to be blind too. It has all the shortcomings of a film from this era: magical cure, terrible ableist attitudes, and a plot that even then was considered contrived. But somehow it's still a really well-made movie, with all the glamor of old Hollywood, and surprising devvy in parts. I enjoyed it a lot. The producer, Harriet Parsons, was a lesbian and one of the only female producers at the time. She collaborated with a screenwriter who was also gay, and the fake identity plot was a lot more interesting to think of as an allegory for faking straightness.
ETA: OMG! How did this get taken down already?! the version I watched was posted years ago, and within a few days of watching it gets removed, oh no! It is still widely available on almost every paid streaming site though. Here is a preview if you missed it.
I found it super devvy despite its flaws.

I don’t recall seeing a mention of this movie. Adam (2020). It also seems to be alternately called “Quad”.
Has anyone seen it? I hate to get my hopes up but it looks potentially quite good. Like the acting may actually be fairly decent and even perhaps (gasp!) a realistic chair.
And he *might* not even walk or die in the end.
I kind of wanted to know before ventured in though.
If you have seen it already and can speak to these concerns, just put a spoiler warning on your post to reply. 🙂
And if you haven’t, then I offer it as a potential movie suggestion. 😎

It was pretty good. I love him as an actor in general anyway. He did well

For some reason I was reminded of the 1994 Australian movie Sirens, and lo the whole thing is on YouTube. This was a dev favorite of mine when it came out, and it totally holds up on rewatching. There is a blind character in a very minor role, so the dev moments are few, and there are some unfortunate cliches. But the movie as a whole is gorgeous and so fun, so I can forgive it. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a blind man in a historical movie, and for stories where the PWD character is objectively sexy, and has multiple women throwing themselves at him 😁
The story is about real life Australian painter Norman Lindsey, and filmed on location at his estate. He was frequently criticized and censored for the eroticism in his paintings, and the movie is about a preacher who is sent to try to convince him not to exhibit blasphemous paintings, but instead the preacher's wife gets seduced. Lindsey's real paintings and sculptures appear frequently, but there's also a beautiful scene that recreates the painting Hylas and the Nymphs by John William Waterhouse (also a favorite of mine) but with a blind man instead of Hylas, oh my dev heart!
