Within the next 5 months or so: Dallas, NYC, Seattle, Chicago, LA (and of course Vegas).
Happy to buy drinks/dinner for devs or wheelers. I don't have definite dates on any yet, except Dallas and Vegas.

Matisse...how in the hell do you travel like you do? You must ALWAYS be in airports and hotels. Are you ever home? Isn't it kind of difficult with the paralysis and all?

It's not that bad, over the course of a few months. Most of the trips are a few days. I also have long stretches where I don't travel at all.
I'm not paralyzed, but the travel does take it's toll on my disability and I do need several days at home before I recover, though if it's a short flight it might just be one day. There is a bit of planning involved in each trip since I use a power chair, so I can't have the freewheeling attitude to travel that a few wheelers have expressed. If there's no roll in shower, I'm pretty much hosed.

Nope, I never rent. I need boosted steering and braking, which none of the places have, not even the ramp van rental places. That's another reason travel requires some amount of planning for me.

Wheelchair Getaways doesn't have that? That's surprising. I suppose when you bring your wife, the ramp van is an option. How do you get around, then?

They haven't had that option when I have rented from them. Typically, I get a wheelchair cab or hire a special service provider for airport transportation, and I stay at a hotel within rolling distance of where I need to be.

Matisse, if you would be so kind, I need a recommendation on a wheelchair cab in San Diego. I need to get myself and my friend who uses a power chair from the Marriott in La Jolla to the UCSD Medical Center, and then back again a few hours later. We'll actually have my friend's van with a lift, except that I'm not going to be able to drive for awhile after the treatment at UCSD, and my friend doesn't drive, so I'm thinking we'll need a cab. Except I'm not sure how to go about it and Google isn't too forthcoming with information. Do you have a specific company that you use? Do you have to make reservations with them in advance? Do they make you wait long before they show up? Any tips/hints/info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on the city, you can find public transportation through some cabs tooI must warm you that you must be VERY SPECIFIC about needing a ramped van & i guess they figure since we're sitting down we can afford to wait(ive been told a 2hr window is "average wait") guess my point is plan ahead GOOD LUCK!

Matisse, do you do all this travel for business or for fun? Does Mrs. Matisse ever go with you or does she like her 'alone' time?

Thanks E. I need a cab, though, because the point is that I won't be able to drive.
I was hoping Matisse would provide me with the name of the cab company he uses in San Diego. I can't actually find any online that say that they have accessible vehicles.
