Hmmm. That jives with what I've heard. I don't have a ton of meat on my bones, so I'd be in for a lot of burning to go with that scratching! Is is acceptable to whimper and yelp during the process? Will I be judged?

Thanks for the terrifyingly description. A soul tattoo actually sounds kinda badass. Fortunately, I don't hear any stories of death-by-tattoo machine

No problem! I had really low expectations of how painful it would be, as in I thought it would be a cakewalk. Parts of it were ok, but anywhere near knees, hips or the back of the thigh....wow. You do get a lot of breaks though, as in it's not 100% needles in your skin all of the time, and you can ask for breaks if you want (I didn't, and it didn't seem that common where I was, but one girl took maybe 10-15 minutes to herself). Good luck cogitating on it further!

Being a high level quad my two neck tattoos were my most painful so far!

The Ganesha tattoo was finished yesterday. Filled in with dotwork, some highlights and a little bit of colour. Very happy with the result! Now I just have to think of a Japanese tattoo for my right arm, so that things are balanced again...

Hey Frank, I saw you were going to get a tattoo, did you get it done? Any pics? I too love the art work but can't see myself getting one. When I lived in NYC I had a female friend who allowed me to photograph her art work. She was a definite artist and her work took hours/days to finish. I only wish I keep copies of them now.

I got my second tattoo 3 weeks ago almost 30cm from the ankle up.. the ankle hurt like hell, especially over the bone! but you kinda get in the mood for being in pain, when you decide to have a tattoo; at least that's what I tried to do. I'm super happy with my tattoo but 4 days ago my skin around it got red and irritated, almost like allergic reaction hope that will go away again :S

Honestly they were no big deal to me until I got my last one. It was a large piece between my shoulder blades right on my spine. That one hurt like hell.

Hi bobbybear, I got 3 tattoos now: Apsara and Hannya mask with flowers on the background on my chest (did not hurt, except for the part on my collarbones) and the Ganesha on my left upper arm. Will post some pics later.

Why don't you contact that female friend for extra copies? Tattoos often look better on women, I think. So when I'm disapointed with my tattoos, the obvious solution is: get a sex change! Ha!

I moved from NYC in 1991 before Facebook and all. It sucks. But I do have the memories.
