I think it differs from quad to quad. My bf moves so much that people without knowledge about SCI always assume that only his legs and fingers are paralysed, but not his upper body. On the other hand, he knows quads of the same injury level who are almost lying inside their chairs and don't move at all.

My boyfriend's a C4 and he moves his shoulders quite a lot, for example to trigger spasms in his arms and upper body, to accommodate in his power chair or simply when talking to "gesture". Depending on his position, his arms move indirectly from it, too (which is pretty damn hot). Plus, he figured out how much it turns me on for him to move as much as he can, so he does it a lot during sex (teehee, he's the best).
When I watched the Me Before You trailer I was so upset about the really crappy portraying of Will. He's supposed to be a C5 (I think) and doesn't move AT ALL. Come on!

Oh yeah and I know this guy from here who's technically a C4, too, but more of a C5 in practice. Apparently, he's got so much movement and control that he's told me people who don't know him very well often don't believe that he's only got limited control over his arms. PS: Hi, S! That's one of my main beefs with the book (thats how it is in the book too). {hangs head in shame} Admittedly, I really really like the book (not the ending! don't throw anything at me!) and will see the movie the day it comes out (most likely). I will watch the movie, too, but I already know that I will be so annoyed by this. I'm wondering about the scene where he tries to reach out for Clark and is like "stupid hand" or something and how they did that. Plus, he won't have the gorgeous quad hands or anything quad-like at all, as it looks. Ugh. Those damn ABs faking it. I mean, he's hot! But he's nothing like a real quad! I think not only being a dev, but also dating a quad makes it even worse for me. I'll probably be thinking that this and that is BS or so not realistic quite often during the movie. But I don't want to not watch it, either! Agh! |

I agree please keep mucking!  As for Me before you... the book gave me ZERO devvy anything... big disappointment very inaccurately portrayed etc... and its not even romantic like at all its supposed to be this love story and maybe they kiss once? COME ON! I will see the movie cuz there's a difference between devvy imagination and devvy see with my eyes... but you're right them choosing AB actors and all... we'll see... |
