Anthony Carrigan is a cute actor with alopecia who I found through his role as a goofy Chechen mobster in the show Barry. He breaks into dance when he's really excited, and looking that up lead me down an incredible rabbit hole of the music and dances of the Caucasus. Igor Moiseyev came up, because he comes up every time I try to look up any folk dance. I never go there because he's usually just solid cheese. Most people would probably recognize his sailor ballet, which has been made into memes and reaction gifs. I mean, come on. But he's got a dance inspired by the Kalmyks, a people of the Caucasus, and I just love this one. I've had the accordion bit stuck in my head ever since discovering it. The center dancer looks like the evil Castor clone from Orphan Black.

Gummo is a movie that is apparently famously disliked by critics, but I've loved it since first watch. The common complaint seems to be that it's pointless, nihilistic, and an edgy style-over-substance jerk sesh. I have to wonder if any of those critics have spent time in a rural American town, founded because some settler's mule died and the poor bastard had no choice but to build his homestead. Gummo is my go-to prop to show what it was like to be a teenager in Podunk, USA during the opioid epidemic. So anyway, there's an old folk song it as recorded by Alameda Riddle in the 60's. I got stupidly excited when recognizing it as having been sampled by Cevin Key of Skinny Puppy in his side project The Dragon Experience. Guys I promise this is NOT another skuppy post.
A few years ago I remember thinking that many cultures had traditions of singing while laboring to pass the time, and I decided to learn a few songs for hiking. Alameda's song was one. Another is this American folk song, famously recorded by the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Kingston Trio, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. The only version I've had much fondness for is this one by John Jacob Niles. It's actually a lot of fun to listen to the different versions, because they're all so very distinct from each other.
So tonight I've spent a while on YouTube listening to various covers, and this one is vying for my favorite now. She's magnificent.

NF is someone I found out about recently. His mumble rap is influenced by his mental health awareness and he doesn’t curse, which I don’t care if an artist does or doesn’t, but I do think it takes even more talent to avoid the easy slang and getting creative on keeping it clean

This is an old track from the band Fuel. This song was originally supposed to appear on the soundtrack of the 1998 film City Of Angels.

Im “that guy” that has the same 40 songs on shuffle on one playlist for the last 20 years. They could’ve stopped making music in 1999 and I wouldn’t be none to the wiser. My wheelhouse though for sure is 70-80’s rock and/or country music. (If there’s a band better than The Eagles, I’ve never heard it) .
Modern artists I get down with are Chris Stapleton & Jamey Johnson. There’s an excellent cover band out of Texas called Blacktop Mojo
Ironically, the soulful voice of Teddy Swims has lured me in as of late. He could lose that bandana though. 🤷♂️

Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach is rocking out with this band, which features Mongolian throat singing! I bet Genghis Khan's spirit is getting quite the entertainment LOL.
