Since I'm a giant hipster, I like to know what people are into. So what are you listening to? If you're not listening to anything right this second, are there any albums you've been addicted to lately? Post 'em. The Brian Jonestown Massacre - WisdomThis is, in my opinion, the best song on the best shoegaze album ever made and BJM are the best shoegaze band that have ever existed. There's a really great documentary about BJM and their rivalry with The Dandy Warhols that I highly recommend called Dig! Anton Newcombe, the brains behind BJM, is a tormented genius that has created some incredibly beautiful music.

I have recently got into Chevelle. I'm not usually into metal, I'm usually listening to Mumford & Sons but Chevelle is awesome.

I'm also probably going to incur ire, but I'm loving Panic at the Disco now WAY more than I did years ago. I also like 21 Pilots. In regular rotation are Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, The Everly Brothers, Metric, Radio Head, Prince, Bob Marley, Matisyahu, Gemma Hayes, Plain White T's, LMFAO, Neil Diamond... I'll stop now...

I'm currently on a mixed diet of Kate Bush, Oingo Boingo, Nilsson and Randy Newman.
Oh, and I'm really excited about Red Hot Chili Peppers's new album. It sounds like a return to form after the lukewarm 'I'm with you'.

I've been meaning to watch the Nina Simone documentary that's on Netflix for awhile now, but just haven't gotten around to it. -------------------- Listening to Cakes Da Killa right now. He's one of only a couple of rappers that exist that are gay and really embrace their homosexuality in their lyrics.

Since I'm a giant hipster So what do you think of Portlandia? I have been on a sentimental kick lately. So that means Venus (bananarama), Jesse's Girl (Rick Springfield), Freedom (George Michael), Say You'll Be There (Spice Girls), etc...... I love music. Especially live music, I will listen to a lot of live music that I would never buy. I don't need the music to be less than popular, I just like what I like. I don't go to big concerts, they ruin it all by blasting the music. If the musicians need to wear earplugs, that's not the performance for me. Music is one of those things where people like to think they have unique, eclectic tastes. I would like to think I am not one of those. I happily count a number of Britney Spears songs as all time favorites. And right now I really like Cake by the Ocean, it's a catchy tune and it clearly means sex on the beach......

Since I'm a giant hipster So what do you think of Portlandia? It's absolute shit. It totally has contributed to the gentrification of Portland, which in turn has had a severely negative effect on everything that makes Portland a really cool place to live. I lived there for 3 years, and in that time, it changed sooooo much. I told you I was a hipster.

So I assumed it's an exaggeration, but do you dress like that and do you buy into the farm-to-table, chickens are smart, skinny jeans, colorful sneakers and kale?

So, you're saying that a show that ridicules Portland has made it more popular?

I know I've mentioned them already, but I'm really digging Oingo Boingo as of late. Their first three albums are arguably their best work, when their sound was more Ska inspired with circus elements and a a nice New Wave gloss.

Haha, reminds me of Vermont... rescue chickens are a thing... apparently. Edit: I call dibs on naming my second band Rescue Chickens. My first band name is Jessie's Dementia. If only I could title my writing... Also, I've never been in a band...
