TotalBias, I wonder why you ask about the use of ( ) with "disability" if you're going to disregard the answers... It's annoying and hard to read... About the wheelchair, I always look because I know a lot of wheelers and want to make sure if it's one of them. But, although I'm not primarily a wheeler dev, I can tell you, like the others, that I'm into the person. Maybe I like someone more because of his disability, I don't know, but I HAVE to like him with or without his disability. There’s a difference in opinion about (dis)ability vs. disability. If I were to private message you and it bothered you, I would stop. However, on a public board, I use what I’m most comfortable using.

There's obviously a difference... God I still laugh with that crippity crip thing Crippity crip? Seriously? So you restarted a thread about the use of the word and didn't even bother to read it??? 😬

Wait, you did read it... how about crippity crip? it sounds like some sort of specific animal species. Try saying that in Steve Irwin's voice: "Oh, look! it's a crip. The crippity crip is a rare species; they "inspire" people whenever they go outside. What a sight to behold!" I’m dying. The voice.... it’s too much. 🙈

Seriously? So you restarted a thread about the use of the word and didn't even bother to read it??? 😬 Well she obviously read it, she even replied. I honestly couldn't remember this cripedy crip either.... Now, to this term discussions, there were people against using "(dis)", people in favour, people who don't care (I am in the third group btw), but in the end, it's her decision. She does not mean to insult, nor does she seem to care if people read her posts or find them complicated to read. There are many people who post in a way I find complicated to read. I can either try and read them carefully, I can ask for help (Corey is absolutely fantastic when it comes to resuming long or difficult posts, I usually just ask him when things get crazy confusing lol). OR, you can just skip, like, scroll down really quickly or block altogether.

Seriously? So you restarted a thread about the use of the word and didn't even bother to read it??? 😬 Shape, I’m super confused. This thread isn’t about the use of terminology; it’s about whether enough seeing someone with a wheelchair/particular visual marker is enough to trigger a dev reaction or not... What do you mean I “restarted a thread”?

TotalBias, I just (dis)like the use of certain things, but... Did you read the following post? I realized you had read it. Still (dis)like the way you type, but I can back off and say when I (dis)regard something... (jeez, it's exhausting!!) Don't really get you, but no, dear, no need to explain yourself.

I want to think you’re being funny, or maybe you really are trying to prove a point, but the way you’re using the parenthes above doesn’t make sense. When I use it for (dis)ability it implies both ability and disability, but I don’t think that’s what you meant with (dis)like or (dis)regard... or maybe you do? O.o Either way. I’m sorry you find it so exhausting. The good news is, if you read it enough, you’ll eventually become desensitized to it.

You think what you want.
I meant (this) is exhausting, typing that way.
The rest... Up to your imagination. 😉

shape llamaguccii never asked how we felt about the use of parentheses, the conversation just got brought up naturally. You can disagree with her decision to use it but that doesn't give you a right to be a bully about it. You keep bringing up this "why can't I say what i think?" thing and the difference is that you are being mean and disrespectful. You constantly jump to defend PWD so quickly, yet you are rude to a dev who didn't provoke you at all and has kept her cool the whole time. Honestly I have no problem with disagreeing but I DO have a problem with bullying. As far as the OP goes, I think this is the very thing a lot of us get kind of rubbed the wrong way about because so many people wrongly assume that we are thirsty for anyone in a wheelchair, which is obviously not the case. As has been said, it is MUCH more complex than that. TotalBias I'm glad you now have a better idea about this and that you asked the question so that you could learn more.

We obviously have different concepts about bullying... Still don't understand why you're saying I am bullying... Maybe I'm too stupid, I thought I was vehement and never thought she couldn't handle it. And she never asked how we felt, but it took part of two threads the ( ) thing... But, who cares...
