I began following a lot of accounts on my regular account, so much so that i started getting suggestions to follow other pwds so i got paranoid and created a devIG account - it's weird though, sometimes i get more of a thrill in discovering someone new, than by actually following them. I barely use the dev account but it has come handy in talking to other devs and pwds who are cool with devs on ig.

Sadly, IG has also become a cesspool of people pretending to be pwds and/or devs. One of my dev friends was being harassed frequently on IG by a guy pretending to be a pwd that she ultimately quit IG. Stories like this really irk me. What can be done about these people? I have no qualms with someone being a pretender in the privacy of their own home/life, but there's a big difference between being a pretender and an outright imposter or as Andrew Gurza likes to call it "cripfishing". It really infuriates me that the whole community gets a bad wrap because of these bad actors. Can we out them? Block them? Report them? |
