I'm guessing there's a moral in there somewhere. You aren't allowed to eat a Swan in the UK. It's quite telling that there's no law against them eating you though. That's a legal oversight that is sure to end up in a dead tourist one of these days. When the UK's hospitality industry is hurting from the international backlash, don't say you didn't have ample clear signage in the tea leaves. Come to think of it, my great grandmother had a working farm, and they had a guard goose rather than a guard dog. These inbred dinosaur progeny really are a mean lot of goons.

Also. While we're posting relevant Simpsons memes. I think this adequately sums up the reality for anyone who unfortunately comes across this thread. To cross-reference this with the music thread, there's a Rasputina song about exact reference. Really, the woman is everywhere. And to bring it back to the story of young Myrrh being an absolute idiot provoking hungry swans, I smuggled a feather from one of those swans home in a box of tissues and used it to make a calligraphy nib. Might I suggest using the promise of scones, rather than crumpets, to lure yourself a dev? Or is it that crumpets get a whole lot better than the dirt-cheap multipack on the end of the aisle in a tourist hotspot?

I can't promise it'll have the right ratio of jam to cream, whether it will be made the right way up, or even how it'll be pronounced... But you can have one.

Scones? Lawrd, that hideous British mishap when they tried baking a muffin. Blergh.

Just can the entire pantheon of British foodstuffs. Its 2020, borrow from cultures that know what food should taste like and that boiling all vegetables to yellow goophood isn't the right way to cook them.

how in the absolute hell did I not know this existed? At the risk of invoking the fury of a thousand devoted Bowie fan Devs... This is better than the original.
That video is so damn good too!
It's almost 1am and that's hyped me up.

Oh man, so much great stuff here already lol I agree that getting a like from myrrh is quite an honor i had no idea that swans hiss and definitely no idea they were that vicious, jeez. Like I knew they'd fight you but wtf Myrrh that is cool AF you fashioned a calligraphy pen out of a swan feather lol. Do you still do calligraphy? I was already thinking about 80s new wave, then the Simpson's videos got mixed in, now Im singing "Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius" to the tune of Rock Me Amadeus Scones always seem like they're going to be tasty but then you bite into it and it's so dry and dense. Weird thing is sometimes I crave that lol I feel like the one item in the "pantheon of British foodstuffs" (you're so poetic rebeca ) that Americans know and love is "fish and chips", which I put in quotes because we actually call it "fish and chips" despite the fact that here chips are called fries lol That Bauhaus Bowie cover is awesome

Honestly, the odd scone is fine. But I'm craving a Jam Roly-poly and/or sticky toffee pudding right now.
I miss the sugar 😠dieting is making me a sad, but also apparently hilarious mess.
Seriously though. Bauhaus.

I want Winegums now... Now they are a British staple I can stand firm with and be proud of! Do 'muricans have Wagon Wheels? I freaking love those too.
An aside, the joy of having your own thread with no topic, is that I can pretty much drive the topic.
Also. Please stay on topic.

yeah newjess I could give the entire pantheon of British foodstuffs a big smacking miss. When I lived in the UK I survived entirely on Fish and Chips (Whenever I was forced to eat out) It's quite hard to find a good chippery though. The right ratio of well fried, non oily batter to fresh fish to non soggy, non mealy chips..its a highwire act. Aside from the fact that UK is the land where good food goes to die a horrible death, I love sainsbury's. It's my happy spot, just coming in a close second to French supermarkets.

Wisconsin is primarily catholic and years ago the Friday night fish fry (breaded and fried cod with fries) became a lent tradition. I don’t think there’s much religious connection anymore but the Friday fish fry is alive and well!
