Hi! Today i would like to address a very important speech for me. PD is helping me to give dignity to my devness and i'm really greatful to it.
Yesterday i phoned to an italian facebook friend who is disabled. He is very popular because he has many serios and deep internet sites in which he tries to help disabled people on their sexuality. His name is Maximiano Ulivieri, you can find him easily in the net (He is even really handsome!). He makes conference around my country. I hid my identity from him, but we chatted for two hours about my devness: it was the first time i talked to someone about this, and i have been really honest. He appreciated and he is very interesting on this topic. We are both angly about what people think about devness. It's unfair, sometime! He told me i'm the first female devotee he ever talked to. He asked me to gather testimonyes from pd: disabled men and devotees. He would like to publish an article to push people to talk about this topic an to help them to think comprehensively. Especially disabled people will need it very much! Would you like to help me? Anonymity is obviously guaranteed. I will translate your messages in italian and then i'll send them to Maximiliano. You can write whatever you want, but here you are some suggestions: DEVS: How did you fond out you're a devotee? How it feels to be a dev? What did you found to feel good about your devness? Have you ever had a relationship with a disabled man? PWD: What did you thought of devness before discovering this forum? And now, has anything changed? Have you ever met a dev?
Thank you with all the heart for help! Marta

Hi marta36! It is very nice what you are trying to do, any positive representation of devs is needed and welcome. I sometimes feel like there are two isolated islands, pwds and devs and no bridge in between... It wouldn't be bad if bridge would exist, although even then not everyone would take that path. However, if you expect backfeed from pwds, too, it would probably be better to put this post into "General" section, not "Devs only". I wish you good luck in devs' advocacy in Italy, I'll send you my small contribution, from not so far away Serbia. Be well!

I can send you a message in Italian so you don’t have to bother translating. I can also offer my help with other translations since I’m a (newbie) translator. Italy unfortunately is a very close minded country with everything concerning BOTH disability and sex. It’s lovely that you’re trying to change people’s stupid old timey preconceptions!

Hi Marta, I googled the guy and it looks like he is very much in the public eye, looks like even his marriage was on the front page of a newspaper. I can't imagine that he doesn't know about devotees if he is so outspoken and interested in things. If you want to include the guys of PD in this, you should start a new thread (not copy, so I don't get in trouble) in the General Section because the guys are not allowed to read or participate in the Devs Only section. I'm not all the way sure if I want to participate, being a dev is such a personal thing, and even though I think you have a good heart thinking about this and wanting to help, I wonder how it would be. Where would he post this article? I can't believe Italy is so close minded with sexuality and disabiltiy things, that's so sad.

Are you italian? A warm hug! Marta

I'm a bit ungry because i can't explain very well my thoughts in English... Let's do this: I'll try to explain my idea writing in italian and then i'll transate in english! I hope there will be a better comunication! See you!

I see there is already a positive article about devotees on that site: www.loveability.it/i-devotee/Of course it's always good to have more. Thanks for doing this!

This is really strange. My google search didn’t bring any results either and I also couldn’t open the second link. But thanks for the effort.
I think it’s kind of hard, if I think of contributing to an article about Devs even though I don’t have a rough idea which topics are supposed to be the main focus of the article.
Have you actually thought about bringing him here to this site? Maybe it’s easier in direct communication with the author? And on the other hand maybe even by reading through this site it would help him already to find the information he is looking for.
