I’m just curious-how many of you consider yourself or identify as an Empath? And, if so, have you considered that perhaps it contributes to being a dev?
I’m most definitely an Empath. And, I’ve been studying more about it. I’ve seen some parallels. It’s just very interesting to me.

I also consider myself one and think it's a major factor in my devness. I'd be curious to think about what came first though.

I don't have a drive to explain it better right now, since I'm brain fried at the moment, but... I've thought about it a lot, and I'm the most positive it's very tightly connected, at least in my case!

Yes, I consider myself to be an empath. I think that being an empath and probably being a dev is connected to my childhood—though it could be biology... or as with most things, a mix of both.

I’m another yes to feeling empathy, I think it creates an openness and lack of judgement towards others. So in that case it will definitely have influenced my attractions.

I’m most definitely an empath.
I haven’t ever specifically considered it in conjunction with being a dev, as it effects most aspects of my life anyway.
I’m interested to read the responses.

This is interesting. What do you guys define an empath and how does it affect you? For me it means being very sensitive to (basically) the world, being intuitive, having high empathy, and having the ability to "feel" others emotions. No horror movies for me!

I think this is a good description of what it means mili. For some reason I don't really like the term empath, maybe because I feel like it sounds like announcing sainthood or something, but it definitely applies to me, understood this way. (I think it's also similar to what is some times just called HSP trait, or highly sensitive person.)
I definitely think it's related to my devness, and many other aspects of my life and personality. Mostly I feel like it makes my life more intense and overwhelming in a bad way. Although I do think being really sensitive (sensorily, emotionally, in virtually every way, ha) underlies my capacity for unadulterated wild joy in the smallest of observations, revelations, sensations, moments of intimacy, etc. and I'm grateful for that.

We discussed here on PD whether some of us identify as hypersensitive - and quite a few did. Are the two concepts related? And how do you guys even know about all these categories?

That is very much how I describe myself. Additionally, I have dreamt things that have come true and I also have premonitions as well. I too, do not watch horror movies or anything supernatural or about paranormal activity.

I have finally connected the two in my current exploration of myself.

Haha yeah, it can sound like that when some people relate to it a lot and yes, I think it's similar to being a HSP. Sensitive "in virtually every way" yesssss! I always say I'm just sensitive to life. Intense lows but intense highs too. I’m just curious-how many of you consider yourself or identify as an Empath?
