I used to have a body capable of a lot more than I am now, I know now that I am much more than the body I'm in, my experience has taught me that if I had a different body then I am capable of different things. In a way my condition caused a type of unidentifying with my body, freeing my mind in a sense. It is a bit discouraging not being able to do all the things I know I can do, but it has expanded my perception beyond my physical limitations.

Hey frenchgirl!
Thanks for the question,
Perhaps dissociation is a better term for it. I sort of identified with being physically able/capable, and when I lost that ability it felt like I lost myself. Yet which part of me still remained? Eventually realizing the real me is so much more than limited to the body I had and what it was capable of instead of what I am capable of.
It caused me to search inwards, exploring meditations and areas of my mind and spirit that I may not have otherwise explored. As well as exploring subjects/skills related to expanding who/what I am as a being.
I was sort of locked in to who I was and what I was going to do with my life, and this condition 'freed' me from those mental constraints.

Yes I have, but I experienced it naturally first hand before reading about it.

As someone with BIID (I'm mostly AB but also have some moderate physical disability, although not visible on me), I find this topic fascinating, thanks for sharing
