Ok, here is more: ;D
One thing, btw: if you review any of the fic I rec'ced, please don't mention me as the reccer. I know some of the authors quite well, but not well enough to share with them that I'm a dev.
I've lived through too much fandom wank already for that. Thanks!
more Potterverse and all Snape-centered, I'm afraid.
The final atonement by XiaoGui, gen, ~40.000 words, Snape/Kinglsey (friendship setting, disability: amputation, character affected: Snape). You can also read it in
German.Salvage what you can by Snape's Nightie is a sweet Snape/Lupin slash fic, not very explicit, ~27.000 words, with a cute sequel,
Softly Whispering "I love you" (~41.000 words}. (affected character: Snape, disability: damaged voice and knee - he can only whisper and walks with a cane).
Leliha writes in German and English and wrote two fics with an enjoyable dev feeling:
Neighbours, ~78.000 words, and
Der Schwarze Mann, ~31.000 words.
She always paris him with OFCs and writes romance-style. Snape walks in both fics with a cane, but for different reasons.
This is one of my favourites, and it's also about the most intense fanfics I've ever read, as far as pain, trauma, hurt/comfort and hurt/care go:
Lost and Found by Borolin. ~281.000 words, SSHG. (character affected: Snape, disability: amputation, also trauma and severe PTSD).
It's a WIP, getting still updated, but extremely slowly - not even once a year any more. At the current point, the existing part can be read without too much disappointment about the missing rest IMHO.
It's also a fic with Hermione still as a student, but they're very careful about her being an emotional adult and of the age of consent before they engange in anything.
The fic is more about recovery from severe, mostly mental, trauma than anything else, and the two authors researched this very extensively, giving the medical and psychological detail a very real feeling (again, I'm in no position to judge about possible mistakes). Particularly the beginning is very painful to read, but a good match if you like your fanfic hurt/comforty.
Wolfsbane by Keladry Lupin, het, SSHG. Snape is an amputee in this fic. The fic location I found puzzles me a bit, as it exists in two versions; a shorter, complete one either no longer to be found (it was on the SSHG Exchange) or in
this archive where I'm not registered, or the longer, but unfinished one under the first link I gave. I have it saved on my HDD, so I didn't register for looking it up.
Retired Nature by Ehmaz is another Snape/Lupin slash story, ~6400 words. Snape is an amputee.
Another WIP, unfortunately, still sometimes updated and also fun to read so far is a Snape-mentors-Harry fic,
River of Dreams, by Taijas. ~274.000 words, no hurt/comfort for once. *g* (character affected: Snape, disability: amputation)
Winter Gifts by Squibstress, ~3810, McGonagall/Snape deals with a paralysed Snape following Nagini's bite.
Some Tolkienverse: In the Silmarillion, the canon character of Maedhros looses his right hand in the course of events. Several fanfiction authors have written good stories about his being freed from the imprisonment by Morgoth, which includes that loss. All I mention are First Age and situated in Beleriand.
French Pony is generally an excellent fanfic author, and her
To Save the Whole is well worth your time IMHO. ~25.000 words, Maedhros/Fingon, I have forgotten if it's gen or slash, though, sorry.
Oshun's take on this is slash,
A New Day, ~53.000 words, Maedhros/Fingon, and also excellently written.
Both fics about this subject are more trauma recovery fics than anything else, but if you also like reading hurt/comfort and hurt/care, you'll probably enjoy these.
Iluvobiwan91 takes a different route with
Single Handedly,~81.000, het, Maedhros/OFC, also a WIP, which also leaves off at a point where the story doesn't leave you frustrated because of it. It's set at later years in Maedhros' life and about his relatoinship to the well-written OFC who also lost a limb.
Don't forget to check out one of the best fanartists in the Tolkienverse,
gold-seven, has an awesome collection of work about the Silmarillion, and often featuring Maedhros as well.
There are also two excellent fanfics about blindness in this 'verse:
Farsighted by Freelancer , ~38.000, Galadriel/Celeborn, First Age, Doriath. Celeborn is the affected character. It's another WIP, I'm sorry to say, but again one written to the point where at least I can stop without disappointment, and where I still can rec it wholeheartedly for being one of the best fanfics I've read.
The same goes for the next one - very well written, WIP with acceptable stopping point, though in this case I really hope the author will take it up again sometime...
To See A World, ~242.000 words, gen, Aragorn/Legolas. Third Age, taking place in Forodwaith/ north of the Grey Mountains where the two friends go exploring. Legolas is the character affected, and the way he goes about coming to terms and coping with his blindness is done very well, and very plausible IMHO.
