Music. Usually darker stuff strangely.
I love anything a bit bright or out there.
Shape Of Water is one of the best films ever made. Someone else mentioned Amelie. I love that film!
Some films that cheer me up are quirky campy films. Clue is a good one.

Oh, I love both Clue and Amelié, I didn't give TSOW a chance at the time but I'm yearning to see it one day. @delight Yeah, it's a liberating feeling being truly by myself. It can be lonely, but I'm slowly working on that, I have regular contact with friends now whereas before things were stilted. Life lesson: Houseshares are hell, but a good stepping stone nonetheless. robbb That's tomorrow's tea sorted, and Wednesday's sandwiches. Thanks for that.

As with many others music can usually pick me up. For me cars and driving also. I have been paraplegic 24 years so have accepted my lot as much as is possible, but sometimes it is nice to escape it. The only time my disability is not visual is when I’m driving. I have even bought/restored impractical sports cars and classics and enjoyed them as its another step away from my day to day situation. Combine that with music and I’m a happy boy! 😁

@zacc , fun cheerful music, nice what is ska? Just curious, Ska is a music style that’s related to Raggae. It has a specific rhythm that makes it pretty recognizable, and it’s usually pretty upbeat as you can hear.

The feeling of coming home on a Friday evening after work and knowing that I have three free evenings and two free days to spend doing things other than my normal weekly work routine. I have that feeling right now as I am typing this...now I just have to come up with something fun to do! That's it. Totally agreed. Besides that, hiking, vacation, travel, friends and... burger I just found out these days again: travel, hiking and good music on my way to get there. The best point of a vacation is actually the point where I get to sit in the airplane and know that there is just me and the time it takes to get there to my destination. There's nothing I need to think about now, because the cell phone is off and it's just me, my thoughts, and someone who eventually asks if I rather have chicken or pasta. If I'm not traveling by plane, I still enjoy my alone-time for example when I'm hiking. It's just me, a nice scenery and my thoughts. That's for the time-being. If I was with a partner I would probably think different and enjoy the company more than anything else. It's definitely depending on the person if you enjoy their company or not. There are people who can be just annoying, as well there are people who fulfill everything that you needed, as if they were the missing pice of the puzzle. I should probably mention along that I work in customer service with sometimes 40-60 phone calls a day along with the regular work that needs to be done. So every time that is quiet and "me-time" is so worthy. I sometimes think that it would actually be hard to go into a relationship again if I need to "talk" to anyone after work as well LOL. but that's an adaption thing. I can do that too - and have enjoyed that before as well.... Sorry for rambling. I needed to mention that.

When I need a good laugh or a cheering up nothing comes as close for me as listening to the Ricky Gervais podcast with Karl Pilkington. The guy is a comedic genius yet completely unaware of his effect on people. He's a naive and simple man, yet there is such a charm to him that I could listen to him talk about anything. And the dynamic between Ricky Steve and Karl on the old podcasts is brilliant--it always lifts the spirits.
So there are like thousands of hours of clips and podcast bits on youtube, but here is one of my favorites:

60's 70's and 80's ska! Why do I listen to anything else, it always makes me happy. Ska definitely has unique cheer-up abilities! It's such an interesting sound; I just started listening to The Specials this past year. Also reminded me of this:
