Are you definitely improving, even if little by little? I imagine that things like this developing into a bacterial infection is always a concern for you.

In the mid 80s today...actually, for next two weeks! It's so welcomed after a few months of cold front that ran my electric bill up. Omg, i've gotten pudgy in stomach, but hey, it's part of getting old as a quad. Still, I hate it!

There's no doubt, weird things happen in this quad-life. It's one reason I wrote my book...situations happen that require you to think your way out. Case in point, a few minutes ago I was driving, hung a lefthand turn at a four-way stop that I do practically everyday. This particular time when I turned my lift suddenly engaged...the motor was screaming trying to pull the lift up when it was already up. I knew I didn't have long to figure this out, so I immediately turned into a driveway, unlocked my chair, pushed back to the lift...I was moving as fast as I could, but that is still slow. I was trying not to panic, but I remembered this exact thing happened to me 25+ years ago (pre cell phones), and I wasn't able to pull over so fast, AND i didn't know wtf was going on. Motor screaming, smoke filling my van...I drove as fast as I could to a convenient store, yelled at a guy to help me. Hell, I thought it was on fire, or going to catch on fire any second. I moved to the back and started hitting my lift in an effort to disengage the motor. It suddenly went off. After a few "Thank you, Jesus!" I noticed the problem...the switch you use to raise the lift was caught under the lift itself, making it engage. That experience reappeared to me just a few minutes ago, so it was relatively easy to resolve, and I was on my way. But it's a good example of the kind off crazy fucking things that can happen as a quad. My 38 years of dealing with this life has taught me most of the things that can go array. I say "most," not nearly all. For the young quads without a long time under your belt, you'll have to be clever, out-think situations...use your perception, your intuition. Shit will happen unexpectedly. Learn from it.

It was v ery hot and sunny in February, and I got burned by the sun especially bad on my nose, face and bottom lip. Also my hands. This has never happened to me, but I was taking an antibiotic at the time. Later I found out the med makes you more sensitive to the sun. I didn't even think about it until it was too late. My face n nose hurt like hell, and parts of my hand blew up into water blisters. I can't feel my hands, but I'll bet it hurt. It was just like getting burned by a hot pan...the skin dies!! My face healed fairly quick, but my hands have taken weeks...they're dried out and healing up, but look nasty. Crazy.

Uber Eats has been a fucking great addition to my life. It's always been a pain for me to do fast food drive thru....this has really opened up the door to eat from many different places, less hassle and FAST. I'm curious how many other quads are using this regularly.

bLOG Uber Eats has been a fucking great addition to my life. It's always been a pain for me to do fast food drive thru....this has really opened up the door to eat from many different places, less hassle and FAST. I'm curious how many other quads are using this regularly. I never gave it much thought before I lived alone. I still go to my brother's place next door for dinner often but they're moving this month. I've been eating much better the last year so I don't do fast food but I order from Panera semi-regularly. My best friend has been the grocery store near my place that has a huge prepared food section. I stop after work and get something that I can easily heat up and it's a million times healthier than just ordering pizza or something. I also love that they cut fruits and veggies in store because I buy a ton of them for lunches and snacking on.

I stay away from healthy food, especially veggies...but I do like broccoli/cauliflower if it's very soft with butter n salt. The Ubereats brings some good stuff, not always fastfood. Actually, my roommate cooks pretty often, and he runs next door to shop (I live behind shopping center). I have two roommates I rent to. Both were homeless for years, both alcoholics. One works everyday; the other has COPD and gets a disability check. He's the one that helps out with cooking...good guy, smart and cooks pretty damn good. These guys are respectful, clean and don't cause any trouble. Yes, they both can get on my nerves a little, but that's anyone you live with. Believe me, I've had worse. I have my own private area and bathroom, so that helps a lot.
I'm sure there's many ways quads get by...this one is mine! I'd envisioned having a goodlookin girl in here at one time, but I got two ugly old homeless guys.

I was watching something on the history channel about lewis n clark expedition...
Lewis and Clark set off on an incredibly dangerous expedition to explore the Northwest, accurately mapping, discovering new flora n fauna along the way. Death in the wilderness was almost certain after eating their horses to stay alive, but they made it to the Pacific Ocean, then traveling back home 4,000 miles.
Clark went on to become a celebrity, a General in the army and a governor of the Missouri Territory. Lewis became isolated, depressed and an alcoholic, taking his own life eventually.
The difference is "attitude!"

If you can keep your head when all others are losing there’s.....
You should read about the Shackleton expedition about leadership and attitude, there was a guy. Robert Falcon Scott wasn’t though, just a man with a dream who took modern equipment to reach the pole and was beaten by a guy with dogs…
The difference is “ experience”

I try to take inspiration from historical figures, even modern day peeps. there's no shortage of people with great stories of triumph against great odds. I know people on their feet are always inspired by us disabled, but honestly, a lot of times I'm inspired by their stories.
