I am not really into jocks anyway. I prefer brains. ditto! Brains over brawn for me any day of the week. Looks and athleticism fade. I want intelligent conversation, along with a great sense of humor. Someone who challenges me, and broadens my view of things.

I agree entirely. Murderball had absolutely no appeal for me. A big dev flop, in my book. I didn't even enjoy it as a documentary... The Men was good, not at the top of my list, but I bought the DVD after getting it from Netflix. Another movie, BarbWire, (yes an old Pamela Anderson movie!) was worth my time because of the lead character's brother, who is blind. Blindness usually has very little dev-appeal for me, but that movie was the exception to the rule. Daredevil was a good movie, but not a dev turn on (for me). I haven't went through the 8+ hours of special features on the Avatar extended release. I am still hoping for more tid-bits to be discovered. To Cake; Yes, the extended release can be obtained in either Blu-Ray or regular DVD. Gattaca was good as a movie in general, but (for me) the only worthwhile dev moment was the stair scene. Even that was only marginal. I think the dev appeal suffered because of Jude Law's clothes, as that aesthetic is a bit of a turn off for me. (What a strange think to effect my whole perception, no?) One of my favorite dev-movies is Quid Pro Quo. Aside from the "magical healing" plot, it hit a lot of my buttons. It is definitely a DVD that I revisit often. In TV... An old series that used to be on MTV, called Undressed, had an episode with a paraplegic collage guy (not played by a real para ). It was GREAT! However, I only had the opportunity to see it once, in the days before DVR, because it has never been released on DVD and cant be downloaded from the Internet (despite my best efforts to find it). An episode of MTV's True Life had an "I'm in a wheelchair" episode, with a guy named Ryan (Correction: Rick)). I still have that saved on my antique TiVo from ages ago! Great scenes of transferring, showering, going up stairs, etc. I wonder if I could get it on DVD? I have never looked. That is probably THE BEST dev show I have ever watched! An episode of Bonanza, called The Horsebreaker, had a character who was paralyzed after being thrown from a horse. It, in my opinion, had a couple of very good dev-moments. There... I guess I have touched on everything I can think of. I know there are more TV favorites, locked in the vault of my memory. I will post them as I dredge them out. "The men", "Coming home", "Born at the 4-th oh july" and "Rare window" - are the best classic dev's movies for me. I also found out, that South american telenovelas are a treasury of dev stuff, though pretty much cheezy, sometimes you can find the thrill there. Once I watched a whole season of an argentinian telenovela called "Models 90-60-90" where the main male charachter (Osvaldo Laport) spent about 100 episodes in a wheelchair and a recovery process. Man, he was gorgeous. But it was about 10 years ago, and I can't find this show anywhere now Lately (I mentioned it somewhere here) I have seen the german "Phantom pain" - very nice movie about an amputee, very inspiring also. It had some great devo scenes with the hero and his girlfriend helping him to learn to walk on a prosthetic leg. Quad lovers might enjoy "The sea inside" - but the movie was so smart and emotionally touching, that the devo appeal of it got lost behind the brilliant story. I also enjoyed many of "Lost" episodes, whose creatores seemed to enjoy crippling the chatachters, mainly John Lock. There was an episode don't remember in what season) when the story behind his disability was uncovered, and there was that scene, where the orderly moves him around - devoliciously mindblowing scenes in my opinion. And, as I have said for trillion times, but can't help repeating it over and over, "House" is the best devo material ever created in my opinion. 7 seasosns, about 140 episodes of devo-arrousal. I don't believe I outlived it and remained sane There are some episodes in seasons 2 and 3 I can watch over and over again, and it is still thrilling. The episode where House tries to make a step without his cane and falls down. The scene where he tries to get up from his bed, and fails. And in almost every episode we see him help himself with his hands to put his injured leg on a table - OMG, I will never have enough words to explain what it does to me And the first sequence of 6x1 when he is in rehab... And as a bonus there is ep. 3x13 when he is in a wheelchair because of a bet he had with Cuddy. Mindblowing!!! I wonder sometimes, how come that most of you don't find the devo-thrill in this show. Obviously we are different in our preferences, but somehow I was sure "House" was some kind of a collective dev-fantasy. I guess, I was wrong. May be it works more on struggle-with-pain junkies like me Oh, and I also enjoyed "Misery" (both the movie and King's novel) a lot. Which is in a way sadistic, but had a lot of amazing transfere and wheelchair scenes .

I have to leave, so I'll look a little later, but if anyone finds anything, let us know!

We all do have really different tastes. The long-term members here may remember how much I swooned over Mark Zupan when Murderball first came out. That tattooed bad-boy type really did it for me. I actually dated a few guys who were kinda like that, but in real life they make terrible boyfriends (shocking, I know). Thank god I finally grew out of that. In fact I bought the Murderball DVD but have never rewatched it. Still, I think it's one of the best documentaries on disability ever made, and when it came out the dev factor was really high for me. I'd have to say right now my all-time favorite dev movie is a Dutch film called Blind. There's a reason I put it at the top of my Amazon list. Sadly it was never released in the US, but if you have a region-free DVD player (not hard to find, or to rig on a PC), there are English subtitles on the disc. It's just fabulous. Dark Angel was a big deal for me when it first aired. I was dating a wheeler, living in Seattle, and a big fan of that exact type of badass super heroine. It was like they had gotten inside my head and made a TV show precisely for me. I enjoyed the first season so much, but then the second season jumped the shark so many times I could barely stand to watch it by the end. Daredevil was also a huge deal for me. I've been a fan of the comics since I was a kid. It's really a shame it wasn't a better movie, but still the dev factor for me was super high. What can I say, I have a weakness for those opaque contacts. I've watched that one over and over on DVD. If you haven't seen the director's cut, there was an extra 30 minute story line that's pretty good. Oh and I have heard that Marvel is planning an entirely new Daredevil movie reboot in a few years, with different actors and characters. So I guess Karen Page instead of Electra? Anyway those of you who liked the movie should give the comic a try, it's so much better. Oh and Gattaca, I always liked Jude Law, so that staircase scene gets me every time. Best part: the way he crosses his legs once he finally gets to the sofa, lifting his leg up with this hands. I remember when that movie Barb Wire came out but I never knew it had a blind character. Now I'm really curious. I just added it to my Netflix queue. Always glad for new suggestions, thank you! I recently watched the HBO series Carnivale on DVD, about a traveling circus in the 1930s. I love all things retro, so I really enjoyed it. One of the characters wears an old fashioned leather and steel brace on one leg. Even though it's not a big part of the plot, the dev factor was pretty high for me, and I liked that character anyway. There's also a sex scene with him in the second season that is really devolicious, IMO. My current favorite devo TV show is Covert Affairs. I am literally counting the days until the next season--over six months from now! Boo! I was so hoping it would come back in January with the other shows on the USA network, but NOOOO we have to wait until next summer

I remember when the Undressed website came up a couple of years ago. I was so excited to FINALLY re-watch my favorite dev episode! However, they never updated past season 1 and no news on the alleged DVD release the site keeps promising. (The episode in question is in season 3, I think). The blind character in BarbWire has a rather limited part and dies about mid-way through the movie. However, it has at least 2 or 3 dev-moments in that time so... Also, the movie is not that great. The only reason I would recommend it is for the dev factor. I LOVE House! It is one of my favorite shows, and I never miss an episode. However, the dev factor is exactly zero for me. Nothing, nadda and zip. I don't know why, but it doesn't ring any bells for me. It could be that Hugh Laurie is old enough to be my grandfather! My preference typically lies within the 18-30 age range. The MTV True Life episode is "I'm in a Wheelchair" Season 4, Episode 17. It seems like there are a couple of places where one can watch it on-line, but I cant get the video to work. . Here is the link anyway... beelmedia.magnify.net/video/True-Life-Im-in-a-Wheelchair(YAY! I just got the video from the link above working. All I had to do was update my QuickTime! Hope that helps if anyone else is having trouble like I was.) As for Murderball, those guys were SO not my type. The "tattooed bad boy" is actually my anti-type, so I am sure that is why it had no appeal for me. Wow thank you for the True Life link Paige. I have looked for that episode several times because I LOVE that show and then there is the obvious dev factor. I can't wait to watch. There is also a True Life I'm deaf show and several other topics that interest me in a semi-dev medical interest sense (I have NF, I'm rehabbing my injury, I stutter, and Back from Iraq). www.mtv.com/shows/truelife/series.jhtmlI want to throw in too that I do like athletic guys and not everyone who is athletic doesn't have brains too. Murderball is a movie I enjoyed. I saw it twice and really enjoyed the conversation they all had about sex. Its not something I think many people think about (quads having sex) and I was happy to see it included in a major film. I never got into House, his disability just is too minor for me to have any interest. I wonder if anyone would be interested in the movie about congenital quad amputee Kyle Maynard called A Fighting Chance. www.amazon.com/Fighting-Chance-Kyle-Maynard/dp/B0049UZ06Q. I haven't seen it but did enjoy the trailer on youtube:

Damn! That was fast! Did you really watch them all or just the ones that sounded the best to you? I'm trying to think if there are any other I left off...
Shigurui (Japanese animation, super violent, but I liked it), Quest for Camelot (kid's animation), Through Deaf Eyes (documentary), Blind Dating
Some others I didn't think were good enough for the list, but for the sake of completeness: Music Within (deaf & CP), Touch the Top of the World (blind), Carnivale, A Scene at the Sea (deaf)
Here's what's in my netflix queue now, I haven't watched them yet, so I can't say if they're good or not, some might be terrible:
Cactus Broken Embraces Blind Light Door to Door Blind Loves The Blind Menace The White Dragon The Art of Negative Thinking
