My name is Jeff...I'm 43, in a chair, and a double amputee. I'd like to meet other interesting people.

I just googled. Right after my accident I used to chat with my devotee friends a lot, but kinda lost touch ...it's been several years, and I missed the great discussions and interesting people...so here I am.

Welcome Jeff. It's nice to see some more amputees make their way here.

Thx Dentelle... Dee Dee, I am in a chair due to an SCI. I was electrocuted by 14,400 volts, killed, then fell 40 ft onto a parking lot. Consequently, I broke my left leg 6x, crushed my pelvis and tailbone into eggshell pieces, broke L-4, L-5, AND T-9. Thankfully, the impact also re-started my heart. Sorry if I elaborated too much. Short answer SCI.

Too flip? I'm sorry... it's honestly hard to imagine someone surviving all that. That happens sometimes here... you hear what's happened to a guy and it's just... absolutely incredible. I'm glad you're still with us and that it's offered me/us the opportunity to meet you. I hope you'll participate around here.

Hello Jeff,
Same thing happened to a best friend of my ex's a few years ago. He was a lineman for the Port of Montreal. He was about 50 feet up. Somehow he connected with the one wire and another. He got electrocuted and then fell. He broke a lot of bones, but in the end he can still walk. The doctors said that was a miracle in itself. The thing is, the doctors didn't realize that the veins in his wrists were fried, he ended up losing his one arm above the elbow and half of his fingers on the other.
Again welcome to the forum.

Not too flip at all Inigo... I'm glad I'm still around too, and I will certainly participate when I have something to contribute to one of the discussions.
WOW Dentelle...that guy was lucky...Does he still work for the power co?

Hey Jeff,
No, he hasn't worked anywhere since then. It's been some years now that I've heard about him from the ex. It happened around 1998-9...

aaaahhh...same time-frame as me... I'm always interested to see if the company dumps the injured guy or not...I was self-employed so it wasn't an issue for me, but it bothers me a lot when a faithful employee becomes a quad, para, or amputee and is forsaken by the company he worked for.
