I could set up a Google Group for us. I haven't done it before, but I have done other stuff like Google Sites and Google Docs. Can't be more difficult than that. I'll set it up and if you PM me your email addresses I will invite you to join.

Google groups are simple. And that's a good idea, Ruth.

I set up a Google group called PD Writing Workshop. groups.google.com/d/forum/pdwritingworkshopAccess is currently set to 'By invitation only'. If you PM me your email address I will send out the invite. If you prefer I can also set the access to 'Anyone can ask'. Then whoever is already on the group (and whom I have made a manager and I suggest we have several) can also approve membership and I won't become a bottleneck.

So now that we've gotten Ruth's submission in the group (be nice to me; my brain is working hard and I am forgetting things...), what's next -- are we replying in-group, or are we waiting for a chat?

I think we're waiting for a chat. When should we schedule it for?

I am just too stupid to get myself a gmail address actually working for that group (and not being linked to my normal account)

I think this was meant to be posted here, and not the "Fairly warning books" I would really prefer a weekend. I'll would like to submit a story structure/outline that i have been trying to figure out for years and would lime to nail it before i carry on writing it up as i don't want to be going in the wrong direction. The only prob is that it isn't very devy. There will be a couple of accidents but no major injuries but then again i would be far more motivated if it turns out it is devie in its roots . So if that would be ok i could probably submit tomorrow.

This weekend is okay for me. I have a publishing panel that I'm attending 10 am to noon (and it's probably at least an hour's drive from my house) EST. After that, Saturday would be good. Sunday is probably okay too. BF has been away for ten days on a silent retreat and he's coming back Sunday, but I'm not sure what time, so earlier Sunday would be better. Sorry this is all EST. I dont' know what that means for everyone else! And hopefully Tabby will submit her outline and then we need one more! Come on, everyone! Don't be frightened!

Oh wait, unless you meant next weekend like the one after this coming weekend? I always get those confused. Whenever I say "Next tuesday" or "next whatever" I always mean the next one that is happening, but most people don't seem to mean that! I have missed appointments because of this communication problem!

I wouldn't be that frightened not to submit but I can't due to that access problem with Google groups and besides I am not available both this and the next weekend. As to the access: could I e-mail my piece to someone? Will the chat still be on Skype or also within Google (in which case e-mailing wouldn't make much sense as I still couldn't access the chat).

Sure. You can either email it to the original email Lucretia posted, workshopsubmission@gmail.com. Or I can send you one of my other email addresses. The access problem was with people getting into the email address... Here is the date and time she suggested... What about October 7 at 2pm Eastern? It is not terribly early for the West Coasters, and not terribly late for those farther east.

Lena, I'll be happy to help with the creation of a gmail account if you need it.

Lena, I can create a new google account for you if you would like, just PM me the name you would like and the password (and I would need your name because Google doesn't allow you to change your real name except by jumping through hoops). Then all you need to do is figure out how to switch accounts and you can immediately change your password. If that would help, let me know. R

Thanks a lot, RyooT and Inigo! I managed to create a Lena-Account but it gets instantly linked to my ordinary Google account, indicating my real name on the top of the site. That's what scares me. Will any group members see eachother's real names then? If so and if you all are comfortable with that, I might reevaluate. However, according to the October thread, participating without access to the group is possible, so I'll go for that.
Still, I won't be able to make Oct 7 and therefore hopefully will be in for next month.

I have had issues with the name thing on Google. I did an email name check with Lucretia before agreeing to join the group. =/
