I actually stumbled across an article that I showed -E-(who thought it was ridiculous) about an airline that was announcing they'd no longer provide assistance to disabled passengers in terms of transferring and such. According to them, if you require assistance you have to have someone of your own flying with you just for that need.

Arg, fucking airlines. Judging from my recent experiences, they are not making any effort to help the AB passengers, let alone anyone else. If they had their way, we would be stacked in crates for the duration of the flight. Reminds me of that South Park episode, where Mr. Garrison invents, um, alternative transportation: "Well, it beats dealing with the airlines" ;D

If so, they would be interpreting the regs differently than most, and could get into trouble. Can you post a link or email it to me? International carriers are a different story, they have all sorts of odd things.

I tried finding the article (it was months ago that I read it) but to no avail. I think it was a New Zealand airline, though. So yeah, maybe it's just one of those wacky foreign policies.

Well that wouldn't surprise me. I think they recently enacted an immigration policy that prohibits any immigration by the disabled. No matter how able they are to support themselves. Some rich disabled guy had a second home there, he sold it. They are also concerned about Asian immigrants.

That is so bad discriminating against disabled people in such a way! Is this the USA? Equal rights for everyone (except disabled and the poor)

And the homosexual. And racial minorities. And women.

I dunno. U.S. Immigration policies should be tightened in all kinds of ways, not loosened.
