I was at a big shopping mall near London today and saw THE cutest wheeler, I would say low level SCI, maybe incomplete, although he lifted his leg to cross it over the other he seemed to have some movement in the foot. He was only about half my age (if that) which made me feel like a bit of a letch but nice to watch all the same.
Very cute and fit, looked really comfortable in his own skin. Wizzing through the crowds at top speed, messing around a bit as he was wheeling, swinging round corners by holding onto things. He then wheeled up to the bar at a restaurant and ordered a beer, flirting outrageously with the waitress, a bit of a cheeky chappy I would say, with a cute smile to match.
Really hot!

As if I needed another reason to love Costco, I saw a cute wheeler there last night. I walked past a few times to coyly smile at him, but he wasn't picking up my ~**signals**~

As if I needed another reason to love Costco, I saw a cute wheeler though last night. I walked past a few times to coyly smile at him, but he wasn't picking up my ~**signals**~ I wonder if he was taken or maybe his mind was on something else and could not catch your signals at that time. Sounds like you enjoyed your shopping tripπ

So, this just happened. Not a wheeler but a PWD. I was in my grocery store (everything happens there π) and I got behind a very attractive man in scrubs. As I watched him, he looked like he had a neurological disorder of some sort-perhaps Parkinson disease (?). He was late 30βs/40ish. No dev feelings. Then I overheard his conversation with the check stand guy and he was saying βyeah, when the doctor himself gets sick, I donβt know how much longer Iβm going to be able to practice.β And, BAM π₯ - dev feeling rose up as I started watching him more. Crazy, crazy, crazy. I just wanted to share this as it is something different for me. Anything like this ever happen to any of you?
P.S. There is a book by Georgia Cates called Dear Agony with a character who develops a disorder and come to think about it-I found that book super devvy. Ugh...

I was at a Bernie Sanders rally on Monday night and besides it being awesome, there were like 17,000 people and I still only saw like three people that caught my attention. One was a guy in an electric wheelchair, I am assuming he was a quad but he was kind of far away and I couldn't see too much of him.
Another was interesting, it was a dad with his son, maybe around 10 or so. He was holding his son's hand on one side and with his other hand he was holding a forearm crutch and he had this walk like possibly CP or MS or something, possibly stroke. It was only one sided though, his foot was kind of dragging and pointing outward and he just had that one sided situation, I don't know much about those disabilities. He had that hipster beardie look and was kind of cute. He was walking confidently with his son on his hand over the standing room floor and was smiling and seemed like a happy guy.
Then the most interesting was a guy in a maual wheelchair but it had one of those wheels attached to the front center to help it roll and the wheelchair had those levers on both sides and the guy was basically moving those up and down and with that moved his wheelchair. I have never seen anything like it and it wasn't particularly devy but it was interesting because it seems that this was an easier way to move the manual wheelchair if maybe the shoulders are already shot or something. I didn't see him close enough so don't know if he was cute but the wheelchair was intriguing. So I just looked it up and it looks like it is called "Wijit Wheelchair Lever". I've never seen this before.
So nothing really devy for me but as a dev I'm always interested in anything disabilty.

That's a really interesting find, Dani. I've never seen anything like that, either. It seems like a pretty decent mod for someone who only has use of one arm, and/or doesn't have the range of motion for pushing wheels. I bet it's exhausting, though. Not a bad option for someone who doesn't want to use a power chair... Or can't afford one, not that the cost of mobility should ever be a concern in a first world country.... But I guess that's why you were all at a Bernie rally, isn't it? Interesting innovation, nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.

The absolute bummer about COVID-19 is that it has dramatically stopped random and exciting "wheeler spotting." Ugh...

SouthernCalGal Yes! Same here. I'm out for a walk at least for one hour each day now (because, honestly, there is nothing else to do if you don't want to sit in front of one screen or another all day) and I almost never see any PWDs. Today though there was a guy with a handcycle, but he was so fast that I couldn't get more than a glimpse of him :-(.

Yeah, no way to spot anything interesting. Since the gyms are closed, no chance in even seeing "my" gym crush π

Yeah, no way to spot anything interesting. Since the gyms are closed, no chance in even seeing "my" gym crush π Was he still going to your gym ? Had you managed to speak to him ? I think if i saw an attractive pwd regularily i would be obsessing about trying to start a conversation and dreaming up a million scenarios in my head π
