The highlight of my week two weeks ago at work was when right outside one of my offices at work I was walking up and was very surprised by a guy in an electric wheelchair somewhat high and reclined but instead of being uncomfortable I started talking to him right away. It was just a super odd sight because my office is kind of away from everything in a "Zombie" hallway in the basement where the main big pipes of the hospital run externally and spread a comfy warmth. I found out he was waiting to go to an apptmt. and cruising over from Rehab to beat the time he found the spot outside my office nice and warm. I engaged in a friendly conversation with him right away and since I had to keep going in and out we talked a few times. I probably walked in and out on purpose a couple of times... He was actually cute and severely disabled, not sure what the disability was. My coworkers found that very uncomfortable to walk by him or even look at him. I felt totally different, I would have totally hung out with him. Most of you know I am a para dev but for some reason I actually found him cute and he was super nice and we somehow talked like we have known each other forever. It was weird...is it strange that now I am hoping to see him again sometime. Apparently he told me he has been coming to our Rehab since "forever".

I live in a crappily middle sized city. There are no young disabled people here. Today I saw TWO youngish blind guys in the same intersection...once on my way to a store and once as I left...not the same guy and they weren't together...so random. The first guy was dragging his cane behind him, the second was tapping it in front. Neither were good looking, but I just read a good blindness dev story and have been revisiting some blindness fantasies to give my para devness a break (haha)... so I'm a little hot about it

I do quite a few pseudo spotting, you know what I mean? There was one guy "missing a leg", but not really, he was just sitting funny. Yesterday a guy moving around on his office chair, guess what I thought wheeler!! but nope...

This happened a couple years ago but I don't think I ever posted about it. It was New Year's Eve and I was on a horrible first date (Life Pro Tip: No first dates on NYE). It was outside at the fountain, big crowd, fake snow, the Gin Blossoms were playing their three good songs from 1997, love was clearly in the air.
As I'm making awkward small talk with my horrible date, who's awkward and like four inches shorter than me (for no good reason mind you, and I'm 5'4") I see a pretty cute para in his late 20s and his girl. So close I could touch them. He's all wide eyed at her, hands around her waist. As midnight approaches, his dad and brother I guess get on either side and lift him out of the chair...he gets down on one knee, pulls a ring from his pocket, and pops the question. She squeals with delight and comes down to embrace him, then he's back in the chair and she's in his lap, there's applause and as the fake snow falls and the Gin Blossoms pull out all the stops, there's not a dry eye in the house. So inspirational.
My date, who I had almost completely forgotten about and who I think was oblivious to all of this, asks "So, do you want to kiss?" I declined, and I remember telling the universe to go fuck itself inside my head.

The other day when the bf and I were coming back home in the evening, we saw two wheelers come out of the building next door (which contains a gymnasium) pushing their rugby chairs. It gave me the biggest dev thrill. Now I know when the rugby team has practice, teehee! (Still haven't been able to build up the courage to go watch)

Oh wait strawberrybubblegum I read you post again and I misread it a bit. Thought you were talking about being out with your friend at home, not bf at his place. Makes more sense and the whole stalking thing less interesting Funny story: the bf took me to a gig on Thursday and there was another couple that totally reminded me of us... I told him that they probably met at the same website we did lol he was blind too and she wasn't pretty and had a limp. I was joking about that being us in 10-15 years

Not a wheeler but I had an interesting experience tonight where I danced with a deaf guy who induced introduced himself via business card. Interesting because he had better rhythm than half the guys there!

Interesting because he had better rhythm than half the guys there! Perhaps he was dancing to the vibrations. Can you share what his business card said? It had his name and Deaf/Hard of Hearing, some smaller text I missed. He was a great dancer and super sweet. Next time I'll ask him for one.
