I’ve been following this latest encounter and I’m beyond excited for you. If you want to strike up Conversation I’d say do it while he’s in the pool, that’s pretty easy I think, hang out by where he enters etc, throw an light hearted comment about impressed you are You got this! Thank you I will try to pluck up the courage!

Do it for all of us! We wait lifetimes for opportunities like this one. It’s the perfect scenario: you’re on vacation, so even if it goes poorly you’ll go your separate ways and probably never see one another again. You can just say something like I’ve seen you here a few times now, how nice you get to enjoy a long holiday…how long are you here…isn’t this the best pool/spot at the resort, I think so…have you been here before…

tanyaIs he around your age? He seems to be single? Did you never consider wanting to talk to him? Hi ichbin yeah I'd say he's around my age, I would love to have the guts to talk to him but not sure how to go about it! 💪 go for it! You'll regret if you don't. You can do it, there's nothing to be scared about. It's just a very beautiful version of a human being. You have nothing to lose, but a lot to win. 😉

Hi ichbin yeah I'd say he's around my age, I would love to have the guts to talk to him but not sure how to go about it! Just smile and say hello. If he seems receptive, follow up with questions/comments about the resort, the weather, how he's enjoying his holiday, has he been there before, etc. I used to be very shy until I realized it's not hard to make small talk and most straight guys are happy to get attention from young women.

Thanks for all the support ladies.
Today I decided to go in there and speak to the wheeler at my hotel. He was sitting at the edge of the pool with his lower legs and feet in the water, drink in hand and his chair next to the pool so he can get into it once he was ready to get out.
He's here for a week, he's from Belgium and with an able bodied friend who I saw today for the first time.
We spoke for about 10 minutes on a few different light topics and he seems like a nice guy. It's just a pity we're from different countries as I doubt we'll see each other again once we leave the hotel. He is of a similar age, although he's 8 years older which isn't too bad.
It was really great to chat to him, I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did.

That's awesome tanya good for you! It's always worthwhile to have a fun conversation even if it doesn't lead to anything more. And it makes it easier to say hi to the next person.

Today's the final day of my holiday and my wheeler friend is nowhere to be seen today around the pool. I'm so sad I thought I'd get one more chance to chat and say goodbye. 😪

Hi everyone, i have a small story of somewhat success. I saw a cute PWD guy who i was very interested in one night when supporting a friend with some school events. He was part of another group but we technically had known people in common since... well... same college and stuff, but nothing was there for us to really chat since he was not directly in my circle of friends. We looked at each other some times in a funny way and exchanged some words when a pet i was taking care of (one of my friends dog) approached him and tried to bite his crutch. He laughed it off and said it has happened before with this dog and that i didnt have to worry.
When i got home i got super mega FBI and checked all my friends and college people intagrams i knew to try and find him, I saw he was in one of the students associations so it was quite easy to locate him. I followed him and he did back. He then after like a week added me to his "best friends" list in his histories (something anyone knows means he is open to chat), i replied to one of his histories and we started to chat every now and then.
The other day i was walking back from class with some friends and he was just there waiting for a car to arrive for him or something and i was too scared to say hi or something, but when we walked in front of him he said hi first, then my friend and me replied back.
I guess there is potential here, at least for a nice friendship, maybe more. I am just happy everything worked and he clearly also seems comfortable and happy about meeting me too.

loveparas that's so exciting! It's the ideal situation since you know people in common and he clearly seems interested. Go for it! Be friendly, get to know him and see where it goes.

Kind of funny story. In the Netherlands all kids from the age of around 5 start swimming lessons but due to Corona there are currently enormous waiting lists. So I put my kid on the waiting list for three regular pools in the area, but was really frustrated and complaining to other parents. Another parent came to his dad with the tip that a local sporting center for people with disabilities is adding “regular” swimming lessons to their swimming pool to help unburden the enormous waiting list. So starting September for the coming approximately 2 years I’ll be spending my Wednesday and Friday afternoons at the local disability sporting centre.
Get back to you on the spottings 🤣.

dutchdev that sounds interesting. So how is the disability sporting center set up? Is it top notch accessible everywhere?

I’ve never been so I’m not sure but it is mainly (the exception being children swimming lessons) meant for PWD so they provide, wheelchair basketbal, wheelchair hockey and 29 other sports. They have 3 outdoor fields, 3 indoor halls and a swimming pool. Apparently it is one of the biggest of its kind in the world. (Just watched a short video).

Just got back from hiking in Colorado, where I spent a couple of nights in Denver. Not sure if it's due to it being a very accessible city, lots of public transportation or other factors, but in 2 days I saw at least 5 people in wheelchairs. I also saw a woman having a photo shoot of her in a walking assisting robot thing - which was itself very cool and sexy. Her wheelchair was close by, which was also pretty amazing, sleek in black carbon fiber. A pity the photo shoot wasn't of a guy though! No chance to strike up a conversation with anhy of the wheelers! Maybe next time.
