The other day, I shared some of my favorite mellow songs, but I'm also REALLY into and intrigued by the darker more meloncholy side of life. Here are a few of my current musical obsessions that fit into that category. You'd never guess it by my always happy demeanor, but I just love a good mind fuck.

Another great cello band has to be Apocalyptica.
Yes, they are amazing, but my favorite will always be 2Cellos. They are so freaking talented and fun to watch. Their music videos are also surprisingly well done and always incorporate an element of their great sense of humor. It is a life-long dream of mine to see them live someday. Here's a bit of AC/DC and Muse to really set the mood. I'll be back in a few days. Now that I've started down the wormhole, I'll be stuck here indefinitely đŸ¤ª Yeah I've caught them a few times on YouTube, talented bunch.

I've played this daily for the past few weeks. The only Mort Garson I ever listened to was Plantasia, which occasionally would make the rounds as background music for working.
From wikipedia:
And I say, dafuq.
Anyway, this album is actually great, and also not made for plants.

A lot of favorites come and go.. BUT THIS ONE.. this one has endured for a while... feeling it. Love bachata... love the sound.. Love Prince Royce's music in general.. and the message.. is definitely one I love.

Long week this past week... put me in a pensive mood.. and this is one that always hits the spot... Had a crazy long dream last night where I saw familiar friends and faces of my past come and go during this dream. Been a nomad most of my life.. so those dreams are welcome in a way because I get to see old friends that I miss and value.... and I get to remember ghosts or relationships past and appreciate the lessons learned... maybe a twinge of nostalgia BUT MOSTLY grateful that it has brought me where I am now.

Thanks Braced4Impact and koala ! I'm very interested in other cello recommendations you have. I normally listen to mostly garage, classic, and indie rock, but I've recently gotten into classical music a bit, and I've had the Bach Cello Suites and Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B Minor on heavy rotation. Also, if anyone else has classical music recommendations for a novice listener, I'm all ears! Lol bad pun. The piece I've heard that I like most so far is Sheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov if anyone has any ideas based on that. Hey Sugarmag, sorry for the delay. Here are a few of my favorite classical pieces. They're pretty heavy, but worth it.

This is one of my favorite tunes sung by the late Chris Cornell.

This one is a hilarious music video of Killswitch Engage covering Dio's "Holy Diver."

I'm not really into classical and tend instead to gravitate to Indie Folk/Rock bands that incorporate the cello. Something about the deep richness mixed with drums, guitar, and vocals really draws me in. Some great ones to try are Tow'rs and Tall Heights.

Any MISSIO fans here? If not, you should be...they're sick af (in my humble opinion). I am completely and utterly in love with them at the moment. Wolves is my current obsession, and I literally can't listen to it enough. Give 'em a try...and turn that bass UUUUUUUUUP!!!

Lots of classic Frank Zappa albums are being reissued in 24-bit 192kHz high-resolution FLAC, so I've been bBingeing on those.
Oh, and Brian Bromberg Plays Hendrix: Not only does Brian play everything, even the guitar-sounding parts on some kind of bass instrument, the drummer on this is none other than Vinnie Colaiuda.
