Lots of classic Frank Zappa albums are being reissued in 24-bit 192kHz high-resolution FLAC, so I've been bBingeing on those. Oh, and Brian Bromberg Plays Hendrix: Not only does Brian play everything, even the guitar-sounding parts on some kind of bass instrument, the drummer on this is none other than Vinnie Colaiuda. Have you seen the Zappa movie on Hulu yet? I've heard good things about it and need to watch it soon. I go way back to the Mothers of Invention days with him.

Just had to take a moment to commemorate the 10yr anniversary of this special little piece of art. This was the first album my husband and I bought as a couple. We rushed down to the music store the day it was released and popped it in the CD player the second we got in the car. We instantly loved it and played the crap out of it over the years. I have so many beautiful and happy memories attached to these songs.

It's great version of songs mostly from this album. Me, this week I've been into Rostam. This song especially is keeping my head bopping:

Sorry for the language, "Lord have mercy on my rough and rowdy ways." It's a wonderful album. And that cover is great: it's beautiful, sad, sweet, and a little funny, all at the same time. As a smaller guy, I can relate to Sheep Head, and I like the detail of the woman wrapping her arm around him. Like the song says, "it doesn't make a difference if you sit or you stand."

I decided to listen to some electronic/synth music genres lately.
Here's one tune I recently heard on the station Electronica on Amazon Music. It's from 2015.
This next tune is categorized as electronicore/electronic metal. I own the album that features this track, which I believe came out in 2013. It's clearly different from the previous tune.

So all this slavic post-punk is apparently very popular with doomers, because I keep coming across playlists with names like "doomer suicide mix 4". It's ok, I didn't know what that meant at first either, and after having looked it up I am now sure that I do not care. Plus, having to go to Urban Dictionary made me feel like Hank here. My boys Molchat Doma got signed to a label in New York and they're getting all sorts of interviews and attention, I'm so happy for them. The other day i watched an interview where they said the person they'd most like to play with is Dave Gahan, which is objectively the correct answer to that question. There are a bunch of new high quality live recordings up too, which has revived the hair envy I feel for their bassist Pavel. Recently I've been listening to more Ploho, which is somehow more mopey but has less of that cultivated pout. I don't know much about them yet. They complement Manicure really well, which is the other group that's been in heavy rotation. These are both the overly emotional indie stuff that I used to find just revolting. As Bob said, something about times and changin.

True story: my lil bro introduced me to this California based group 12 years ago. I haven't really heard anything from these guys in a long time!

I've been absolutely LOVING this song lately. Really can't go wrong with a collaboration between one of my all-time favorite artists, Matt Maeson, and the always amazing Manchester Orchestra.

I really like the idea of someone playing this song in their head when I walk into the room. Maybe one day.
