That last period was when I, as an impressionable 9-year old , way back in '02 was introduced to the magic that was By The Way and from then on I never looked back. Yess... truth. I was 12 in '02 and fell in love with that album. Even to this day I rediscover songs that were maybe my least favorite tracks back then (i.e. Throw Away your Television) and fall in love all over again.

Also.. to contribute to my favorite topic (music), I've been on a heavy dose of Elliot Smith and of course English new wave: Tears for Fears, The Police, Erasure. Some don't understand it but I think it's brilliant

Elliot Smith! Damn let's give this guy some love, shall we? One thing I'll never forget was me and my previous boss bonding over Elliot Smith on a long trip back from London. Bloody hell, that was a great journey, both musically and companionally. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't crying right now.

That's ... disturbing. I wish I could unsee it.

Keeping with the bizzare, ya can't get stranger than Tiny Tim, the one man Vaudeville revival who was greatly underappreciated beyond his initial novelty. Here he is with a cover of a classic.

Truly beautiful, no matter who sings it.

Truly beautiful, no matter who sings it. Maybe I should upload my own version to see if that makes you change your mind, then.

Since I'm a giant hipster, I like to know what people are into. So what are you listening to? If you're not listening to anything right this second, are there any albums you've been addicted to lately? Post 'em. The Brian Jonestown Massacre - WisdomThis is, in my opinion, the best song on the best shoegaze album ever made and BJM are the best shoegaze band that have ever existed. There's a really great documentary about BJM and their rivalry with The Dandy Warhols that I highly recommend called Dig! Anton Newcombe, the brains behind BJM, is a tormented genius that has created some incredibly beautiful music. Honestly? Though I grew up in the 70's and 80's, I am currently listening to Vaporwave (no, NOT Macintosh Plus). I first heard the BJM from the opening theme to Boardwalk Empire. I am a huge old-school post punk and shoegaze fan. Drunk, I have a mess load of bands I listen to and I am far too old to be a hipster. Glad you admit it and wear the title proudly though. I hate when people say "I'm not a hipster. Don't label me", and you know they're deep into the indie coffers.
