I can't believe I've never heard this album. This is like...exactly what I wish my music sounded like. This is incredible.

Current obsession. Also, Eric Wareheim is a genius. Eric Wareheim has done a ton of great music videos. This one is a personal favorite, partially because I'm crazy in love with Health and partially because it's just awesome. Also, @danny83, that's pretty much the only Chet Faker song I like. I keep trying to, but I just can't get into his stuff.

I'm also a big fan of Tim & Eric. I have to agree, for the most part, about Chet Faker. There might be one other track I like, but I don't revisit it often.

I currently am, and have been for the past 2-3 hours, listening to a song I'm working on that is AMAZING. I really want to finish it up and shamelessly plug my jams here, but I swore an oath to myself that I'd stop posting my music on SoundCloud for awhile and build a stockpile of songs in a folder labeled "Turn this into an album, idiot" in an effort to stop uploading half finished songs and actually release a coherent EP or LP instead of talking about it and never actually doing it. It's a baller ass hip-hop type of thing and I couldn't be any more hyped on it.
I sampled the first 30 seconds of this song, sliced it up, and arranged a bunch of stuff around it. The sampled song is really cool, and the song I'm making is really cool, and everything is really cool.

Today's playlist is a quadruple Brit-tasticness for the ears of Brit-spasticness 1. The Libertines 2. The Darkness 3. Amy Winehouse 4. Pink floyd
I do everything in fours now
From one fantastic spastic to another, you sir have taste. Especially if it's Barrett era Floyd. As a big fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers and all eras of their career, I have waited in anticipation for The Getaway for years and I'm thrilled that it's arrived. Despite the intitial reservations of Danger Mouse as a producer and the continued lack of Frusciante on guitar and backing vocals, the album is pretty good for what it is. Whist the lack of Frusciante's melodic funk guitar does jar on a long time fan like myself, Klinghoffer does a good job at filling the guitar-shaped void, not perfect, but passable enough to contribute to that trademark Chili's sound. Flea's bass appears to have been sheared of it's spiky sound, but his technical prowess is still there. Keidis' voice is still beautiful after all this time, and his lyrical uniqueness shines through, and yes he mentions California several times. My only real issues that prevent the album from being great is the sound of the drums, they just didn't seem right to me, almost overproduced, too electronic, too modern. That and whilst the songs are nice, they don't really stick with you first time like the band's previous songs have, so that dampens the impact the album should have had. So, in closing because I have to make a cup of tea, The Getaway is a fairly solid album from an incredible band that encompasses most of their their tics and quirks way back to the manic, sexy good-time brothers cup hyper funk 1980's period to their mellower laid back insightful yet still musically boisterous 90's period to the best of both worlds they gave us in the 00's. But the absence of one particular member once again dampens their squib and they just can't reach that something special they had from '84-'88, '91, '99 and '02-'05 glory days. But that missing ingredient aside, it's very worthy of it's praise and well worth a listen. That last period was when I, as an impressionable 9-year old , way back in '02 was introduced to the magic that was By The Way and from then on I never looked back. I was truly hooked on these guys and over the years, gained more and more of their back catalogue and gained a bigger insight and adoration for a one of a kind band who probably won't stop until the world does.
