I'm eager to be able to go to some live shows again once the pandemic is over. I only wish that the venues were more consistent about ADA seating options. I was scared to death going to Alpine Valley last summer... I only had lawn tickets and had never been there before. It was so dangerous for me on my crutches.

Was sitting outside yesterday and a car was blasting this song. Then at the end the radio DJ started talking and I was like: Oh shit, they had that on the radio? Anyways it took me back to my high school days, although I’m really glad people don’t wear tall T’s anymore because they look stupid as hell. Made me want to get into a fight at 9am on a Sunday, good for a wake-up:

I recently heard someone remark that "Billy Joel is the closest thing New York has to royalty." The statement really stood out to me, because if you'd asked me if I liked Billy Joel, I'd have said definitely. Who doesn't love Piano Man? Only psychopaths and communists. What struck me as weird about that phrase was that I'd never actually thought about Billy Joel being anything more than a ubiquitous part of the soundtrack of every VHS made between 1979 and 1993. He wasn't an artist so much as an element.
When that comment got made, it made me think, "Oh shit, that's a person." It was like when a friend mentioned Paul Simon had been married to Edie Brickell and my immediate response was, "Next you're going to tell me he poops, too." I got intensely curious about what Billy Joel looked like, because I only had a mental image of him from some relatively recent thing he did with Elton John. At the time I remember being mildly surprised he had a face. But let's be honest, when those two are in frame together, you're going to be looking at the guy in a pink velvet blazer and matching Bedazzled glasses.
Anyway, aspic was a really popular dish in the 50's, though it remains popular in many Slavic countries today. You take animal bones and boil them until the collagen is extracted, and you have this highly purified jelly that is so concentrated it solidifies. Historically it was made with animal bones, but nowadays with the animal industrial complex it's usually tilapia, skin, or hooves.
So I decided to look up a Billy Joel video. What I found wasn't just a video, as much as it was the music video equivalent of aspic. But like, aspic of New York. At least, the New York I have gotten know exclusively through Law and Order, Men in Black, and Seinfeld. Somehow this huge body had been concentrated into something so pure it was solid. Or, audible. Whatever. You know what I'm saying. Now I gotta go watch Taxi Driver so I can impulse buy some more overpriced sunglasses.

Most of my music is punk/pop punk, ska or Hatsune Miku. Lol I have a very... Neurotic taste in music. But right now, this is my jam! (I can't remember how to embed so it's probably just a link. Sorry about that.)

Pop punk and Hatsune Miku is like hot dogs and cotton candy. A bizarre combination at first glance, but actually not hard to imagine in the right setting.
I went through a vocaloid phase shortly after leekspin became a thing, and then ended up on Hatsune Miku's version of Ievan Polka and getting hooked. Korpiklaani's version is fantastic, take a gander if you haven't. Actually that's one of the ways I got into folk metal. Leekspin > Hatsune Miku > Ievan Polka > Korpiklaani. How weird to think about now...

Two great albums, produced 20 years apart.
I just saw that The Ape of Naples is ranked as the #3 album of 2005 by RateYourMusic.com, right behind Sufjan Stevens and Kanye West. I don't generally go on that kind of site, but seeing that made me happy. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go look up all of my favorite albums and get deeply triggered.

I've been trying to recover from vaginismus (a condition where the vagina spasms painfully whenever something is entered into it, typically a phobic reaction based on fears of penetration) and made a kink playlist (mostly domination and mind control themed) to help me get in the mood for practice. The songs on my playlist:
Bryce Fox - Horns
Billy Joel - She's Always a Woman
I'm a Hex Girl from Scooby Doo
Let It Out from That Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals
Under Our Spell from My Little Pony Equestria Rocks
Let's Have a Battle (Of the Bands) from My Little Pony Equestria Rocks
Trust In Me from The Jungle Book
Sharm - Ny'alotha
The Pitiful Children from Be More Chill
Upgrade from Be More Chill
Pip King - Jolene (A Cautionary Tale)
This Day Aria from My Little Pony
Empire from Monster High
The Stupendium - Slide Into The Void
Skillet - Awake and Alive
Digital Daggers - The Devil Within
Say My Name from Beetlejuice
Voltaire - BRAINS! from the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Voltaire - When You're Evil
Les Friction - Your World Will Fail
I Put A Spell On You cover by KathyChan, original from Hocus Pocus
Reinaeiry - May I Have This Dance?
The Dear Hunter - Mr Malum
To Life from Shoggoth on the Roof
Halestorm - Loves Bites (And So Do I)
