Just watched Fleishman is in Trouble on Hulu and it's honestly some of the best TV I've seen in a while! It's basically a long soliloquy about divorce but also midlife crises', and how we picture our future selves and how we're oftentimes disappointed in where we end up.
It's really well written and I couldn't stop watching it. Binged it in like 3 days which is fast for me.
It reminded me of a great book called Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann. It's about how the lives of several perfect strangers intertwine around the tightrope walk between the Twin Towers in 1974. It's a great book and really does a good job of showing all the ways where all interconnected and separate all the while having compassion for people from all walks of life. I felt like the show got close to doing that, of showing full three dimensional people and not just one dimension of them, even if it took a bit for all the pieces to fit together.
I would highly recommend it though!

Just watched Fleishman is in Trouble on Hulu and it's honestly some of the best TV I've seen in a while! I love Taffy Brodesser-Akner (writer of the novel). She’s better known as a longform magazine writer; she did a bunch of reporting on Gwynnie and Goop. She also did one of my favorite pieces ever, “We have Found the Cure! (Sort Of),” from Outside, which managed to skewer woo-woo jade egg Goop vaginal steaming wellness crystal retreats while still remaining wonderfully kind and thoughtful about why women - including herself - keep looking for wellness, healing and caring. In a foofy crystal way 😂 OHHHHHH. I picked up a cheap copy bc I heard it was really good, but then I was like, “twin towers, enhhhh.” But now that I see it’s about Philippe Petit, maybe I’ll check it out.

I have just finished Picard, which was a great series and I don’t think Patrick Stewart is making any more. So I have watched the complete Next Generation, Ds9, Voyager and it’s the end. Although at the end Q dropped in to say hi to Jack Crusher just like he did on the first episode of NG. So who knows? Anyway, I am now watching Boston Legal on the Disney Channel, I have already watched the box set many times, but I think there’s just so much convenience, watching it on an app. Afterwards I am going to have a look at Beef on Netflix, but today, it’s the FA Cup semi-final in England, so I’ll be watching the football.

Oh well after writing my Facebook status for today, one of my friend suggested the new series of Criminal Minds, has anybody watched this yet? I have just finished a 10 days binge, watching Boston legal, honestly it was testing, but I managed to do about 10 episode a day, I did the same a few years ago when I was watching the Sopranos. To be honest, that was a really good series, I can still remember shotgun shy on the song when it gets to the Pizza Hut. Yes, woke up this morning got myself a gun.
Anyway, it’s the coronation in this country over the next few days, so it’s time to get the bunting around the house. God bless the King! Yes, I am a proud Royalist, when I joined the army, I swore allegiance to the Queen and all that her heirs and successors.

lately i’ve found myself really into outdoor survival shows. i go back and forth between naked and afraid, alone, survivor. been watching a lot of hiking documentaries as well.
i’ve had a few palette cleansers (genre switch ups) and checked out Beef (damn!) and the latest season of You (kinda fell flat for me) on netflix as well.

I forget where you are, but if you have a PBS station around, this one will come up sometime in pledge drive season: Alone in the Wilderness, featuring Dick Proenneke. (There’s a SEQUEL!)

I have just started watching Schitt’s Creek on a friends recommendation, and it’s pretty funny. It’s has got a dry sense of humour.

Pete 👍 Everyone on Schitt’s Creek is great, but the series really gels when Patrick shows up (S2, I think?). The family has been stuck in town for a while and everyone starts branching out from just “fish out of water” to actually finding and taking new roles of their own in town. (Also, Patrick = adorable. He pretty much always encourages David to do new things.)

Schitt’s creek is one of my all time favs! I watched it on pop since season 2 and then everyone really started getting on the bandwagon like season 4-5 on Netflix. I’m pretty sure I’ve watched the whole season like 10 times through at this point. I have a whole corner of my kitchen with Schitt’s creek stuff.

As a huge fan of heist movies and shows, I almost had no choice but to watch a new show named Kaleidoscope on Netflix. It's moderately well done and the disjointed chronology of how the story is told adds an interesting element. This is not a recommendation - just a heads up for fans of the bank heist genre. I have two episodes to go and I haven't decided if I actually like it or not! I’ve been watching this as well and I love it! Did you watch it in the order it showed up in your Netflix or did you switch it up?? I went in order of my fav colors 🤣🤣
Know I'm late to the party but just watched this... I enjoyed it but not sure why'd anyone would watch it not in chronological order, it'd be confusing if you didnt.

On Netflix, I binge watched season 2 of Sweet Tooth, I finished the true crime series Missing: Dead or Alive, and now I'm watching the Korean post-apocalyptic sci-fi series Black Knight dubbed in English.

I'm currently watching the Hindi movie Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway, which is based on the harrowing true story of an Indian (Bengali) couple living in Norway whose children are taken from them by the Norwegian Child Welfare Services on grounds that as parents they were "unfit" to hold custody of their children, after several visits from employees of the national agency. This was evidently part of a grueling process for the Indian family to obtain Norwegian citizenship. The family sues the government of Norway to win back the custody of the kids.
