Daredevil is my favorite comic book character. He is also blind and I am a dev for blind guys so DaredevilDev seemed fitting.

A bojangler was our term for someone who gets caught up telling a story and forgets to pass the weed. I think bogart is another term for it? Anyway, that was a long time ago but I’ve just always used that username in forums. I'm from North Carolina and I IMMEDIATELY thought of Bojangles and those great ham biscuits! |

My new username is based on the fact that I use a noninvasive BiPAP machine for respiratory ventilation, and that my first name is Sachin. This zombie thread has been revived!

El Cid for me has 2 meanings... Favorite RPG series since being a kid being FINAL FANTASY SERIES and Cid has been a famously reoccurring character.. inventor and engineer of airships. www.giantbomb.com/cid/3015-4748/ El Cid = Military leader and hero of Spain and helped retake Spain for Spain from the Moors. I am Mexican American.. so have a TON of problems with Spanish history and the way I look at them as colonizers. But still.. a warrior for his country even when they weren't really much of one at the time. Icarus... think that's obvious.. flew to close to the sun and died after touching the sky after a while... ENTIRE life has always been about flying as high as possible... no matter how many times I fall though.. seem to be able to brush myself and get back up... www.pbs.org/video/story-icarus-m6ghf8/That's why I combined it with El Cid... warrior... airship engineer/inventor and Icarus cautionary tale of flying to close to the sun.. RyooT is an abbreviation of Ryoo Thule who is (or was at least pre-Disney) a canon minor Star Wars Expanded Universe character -- Padme Amidala Naberrie's maternal grandmother. Tasked with preparing Padme's body for burial she is later tortured and murdered by Inquisitor Malorum. I really liked her story (told as part Ferus Olin series) and her strength of charater appealed to me.
Also you can pronounce it like the word riot which is how I pronounce my handle -- just because.

Ehh ...I figured I needed a name that was hard to connect to my usual online one. WHen I joined the forum I pretty much did it on a whim because a dev told me about it on Skype, so I guess you could say I took a blind leap of faith.

Celaena is very similar to my name and is the name of one of my favorite characters from the "Throne of Glass" book series. I love character names... both of my daughters are named after book characters, so it seemed fitting.

ElCidIcarus ah this is a really cool combination for a nickname! out of curiosity, have you ever played age of empires II? there's a campaign featuring el cid as the main character - I remember being introduced to it and it was my first exposure to el cid, not being very familiar with spanish medieval history. I also think apis is a great name (not sure yet how to quote two disconnected posts in one response), though my initial suspicion was that it had its origin in something cute and bee-related, hehe. my own nickname is lifted from anna karina's character in alphaville, the jean luc godard noir sci-fi, who attempts to defeat her programming and understand the meaning of love and morality while aiding main character lemmy caution. the whole film is perfectly shot and i adore the story which also seems to have influenced some postwar american authors I enjoy. it also has an element of cartoon villainy through the werner von braun + boris and natasha juxtaposition, hehe. |
