Its entirely normal for virus to mutate, please dont stress. There have already been 100's of different mutations and science is saying no reason to believe the current vaccines will not be effective. As @delight says just like the flu vaccine that need changing each year so will the Covid one as it wont be going away. One other thing to add, as virus's aim is to thrive and survive, mutations usually lead to more contageous but less lethal.

@corey, isn't Spinraza and Risdiplam basically mRNA? Good question. Spinraza looks like mRNA but it isn’t actually mRNA. The chemical structure is modified so the part that usually reacts and causes degradation is protected. Risdiplam is just a small molecule. It interacts with mRNA, it doesn’t look or mimic mRNA

If you're interested in getting the vaccine call your local Health Department to find out where you fall on the prioritization list. You should be pretty high.
Looks like Composite, my parents, and I can get the vaccine in mid to late January under "North Carolina vaccine phase 1B". I'm slightly disappointed Medicaid Waiver Home Care participates aren't included in 1A, as nursing home residents are, but good enough.

I haven't heard anything about when I'll be eligible and it's kind of nerve-wracking. I feel like I'm dodging bullets out there, even though I try to stay protected.

Just had my first dose of pfizer and pleased to report ive not grown a second head, but dissapointed a side effect hasnt cured paralysis 🤡 Depends what State in the US. In North Carolina we're ranked 43rd in distribution since the State simply handed the vaccine off to County Health Departments, County Health Departments that have been responsible for testing and contact tracing, on top of their normal work, with zero additional staffing. It took my county a week to do 800 vaccines. It is getting better, every non essential county employee is working the call center and they've partnered with pretty much anyone who can give vaccines to do mass vaccine events, they did 1,100 in a day this weekend, though 8,000 are still on the waiting list. The much more infuriating problem in North Carolina is the state priority system, that the counties have to follow, has been changed 3 times. PWDs receiving Home and Community Based Long Term Care were 1a priority and all other very high risk were 1b originally. Since then all healthcare workers, nursing homes, everyone over 65, prisoners, and all essential workers are now ahead of anyone under 65 with 1 high risk factor. Worse, the state is refusing to recognize Home and Community Based Long Term Care as Long Term Care. I've gone from 1a priority to priority 4.

I’m also in NC. My dad and brother are both healthcare workers and got the vaccine (dad Pfizer brother Moderna). Meanwhile, my place of work told us we have all been registered to get the vaccine and to wait for an email. Then, they said we actually have to register ourselves with the health department. We are considered healthcare workers. I went to the health department link and couldn’t schedule a vaccine because none were available.
So that is some bullshit. Nothing to add, just pissed and I want to get the vaccine.

Had to let them know whether I'm willing to get vaccinated by 7th of January and haven't heard anything since then about when I'll actually be vaccinated... so I think it's fair to say it's not going awfully great. Very slow and not very organized.

An employer in my area got more vaccines than they know what to do with. They vaccinated all of their workers, and then gave the rest to "friends and family" of their workers. A friend of mine got his shot yesterday because he's connected to one of the employees there. Meanwhile, I know several people who are elderly or immunocompromised who are not getting what they need.
It's been all over the news that the Biden administration has discovered Trump had no covid plan, which comes as no surprise to anyone. Leaving the states to their own fates has been an unmitigated disaster. Over 400,000 dead Americans and climbing, which could have been a fraction of that if we'd had leadership that cared about saving lives. I've been informed this is Freedumb™ performing as intended, though, so God Bless the USA or something.

So here in my region of the UK, much to my suprise the vaccination programme has run suprisingly smoothly with the majority of the high risk groups offered vaccination, so smoothly they are cutting out vaccine allocation by 50% to send to other regions. We had both the procurement of PPE and the set up and running of 'test and trace' outsourced to private companies both of which have been an unmitigated disaster and indirectly has contributed to over 30,000 care home residents catching Covid and dying. Discharging untested patients into privately run care homes without and Covid testing or any PPE for staff was a disaster waiting to happen and it did happen. Heads need to roll on that alone. So the vaccine programmes are set up and our local health authority insisted on running it (not some outsurcing company who's director is related to an MP or the company donated to the Conservative party) and guess what, having full time medical professionals and public health experts running a vaccination programme works!
We lockdown too late re-opened too early The government gave anyone who wanted it vouchers to go out to a pub/resteraunt for a meal, which millions did A surge in the virus which the govmnt blamed on people going out (see above) Postponed school exams, gave best guess grades wih no appeal, then re-assesed best guess grades when social and economical discrimination was shown to take place. Re-opened Universities and Schools, then when a new surge came blamed students for it. Locked down again Said it was safe to re-open for a couple of days over xmas to meet family Now the most recent and most deadliest wave which the govmnt blame people for meeting at xmas Finally decided to close air lanes and insist on Covid negative testing, 12 months too late and which should be a no brainer for an island, Taiwan did it and has only had 7 covid deaths, New Zealand and Australia similar. Pushing 100k deaths now, one of the highest if not highest death rate/per capita in the world Other than that im proud of my government .... Heard an analogy today and for me it rings true, breaking covid rules/lockdown is akin to leaving your lights on and curtains open during the Blitz in WW2. It brings death and terror to you, your family and your friends.

It will be another month or so until any Vaccines are approved for use in Oz. Obviously there was no need for emergency authorisation. The 2 that look like being approved are the Pfizer and Astrazenaca. There will only be 10 million doses of the Pfizer and 50 million of the astrazenaca, which is already in production here.
I would probably prefer the MRNA one, but I doubt we will get that where I live due to the temperature restrictions. Not that it should really matter what I get, we haven't had a single infection out here since April.
Oz is pretty much covid free with the only cases being in the mandatory 2 week quarantine. Victoria had a very bad second wave around July or August due to security guards banging horny women in quarantine, but that has been over for a few months.
Sydney had a small outbreak in early December, caused by airline crew who slipped through the quarantine cracks. This got squashed fairly quickly with hard lockdowns of the affected suburbs, world class track and trace, and genomic testing of every positive to confirm where it came from.
One of the health ministers said a few days ago, he expected our borders to remain closed until 2022. There is still talk of a Pacific bubble, with Oz, NZ and the Pacific Islands opening soon.
Stay safe everyone

I'm currently eligible to get the vaccine, but they haven't rolled it out to my tier yet here, due to insufficient supply. So much for warp speed. Anyway, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
Our youngest can go back to school 2 days per week, but we haven't sent him back. It's just too much risk to take given that I will soon be vaccinated.

Not gonna lie, they actually got me with Operation Warp Speed. I kinda got my hopes up when the vaccine was approved and people started getting it. On the conservative forum they were saying that 1.5 million Americans got the vaccine on Trump’s (thankfully) last day in office, and Biden’s goal is only for 1 million a day the next 100 days. All I know is at my work meeting today my boss said we should just try different health departments until we find a county that is scheduling, and drive as far as we are willing to drive 😢😢😢 Only way you can get a test around here is if you lie on the questionnaire also.

well you had operation warpspeed, then as usual our bunch copied and announced operation moonshot ... fucking leaders thinking were an episode of star trek. im suprised we didnt get a 'If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team' slogan trotted out!
Anyone suprised both operations have been pants? Your leader went into denial and did nothing our at least aknowledged the problem, thing was then he dithered n dallied went into reset mode and effectively did nothing.
Luckily for us we have some great scientists and public health officials who got on with handling the problem despite the political car crash and werent afraid to contradict the governmemt, unluckily for you anyone who contradicted the president was 'disapeared' from public appearances.
